 “buy-in prices” by citykid, 31 Jul 2006

Atmosphere:  3/5   Wait:  3/5   Variety:  3/5   Fish:  3/5

The information of the buy-ins is stale. I was there a couple of times during July/August 2006. Limit hold-em starts at $2-$4. there are three blind bets. $1 for the small blind, $2 for the big blind. There is $1 on the button and that goes to the bad beat pool. $1 more is required to play the button. The smallest no-limit game was $2-$4 with a buy-in of $40. Not more, not less. Rebuys are at the same price until the third or fourth rebuy. Then maybe $45 or $60. I didnt play so I am not sure. Players that profit early build a big stack and the $40 player has to deal with it. I did not examine the higher limits. I was too confused, upset to play a lot.

The Atmosphere at Hollywood Park is ok if you like horse racing crowds. The poker room wait is about average. Hollywood Park has a good number of tables/stakes and the tournament schedule is interesting as well. There are plenty of bad players, especially when some of the racing fans decide to try their luck in the casino.
