Decent MicroStakes Ring games by BagONickels on 29 Nov 2011
rating 5 / 5
I've been out of the online poker world for a couple years now and I recently decided to get back in. So far I have tried Luvin and Cake. I'm only playing the micro-stakes (for now) and I was surprised at how different the play here was from Luvin.

Make sure you get the 2.0 version of the software. I was directed to an old version from one of the rake-back sites and the old software is terrible. 2.0 is very nice though.

The play at Cake, even at the micro-stakes takes at least some skill. I feel like a lot of average players, like myself, are testing the waters at the micros. While there are usually one or two fish at the table, I have found myself more than once with what seemed to be a full table of regs and/or nits. Just be sure to choose the tables with the higher view% and avg pot.

There are always a handful or more of ring games full at all the small stakes tables. Single table S&Gs do fill up, unlike Luvin where they are non-existent, but it still may take a little while at Cake.

Depositing was easy and instant with a major US bank Visa.

Bonus seems easy enough to clear, but as far as I can tell there is no rake back once your bonus has cleared or expired. I deposited $50 and I dont think I'll have any trouble clearing the $55 bonus within 90 days even if I just 2 table for a couple hours a day.

Have not had to deal with support, nor have I made a withdrawal so I can't comment on that...

cake poker is ok.. hard to get your money out by demmajam on 01 Nov 2011

Cake poker is ok, but there is a $500 withdrawal minimum and it takes forever to get your money back. That is a bummer for me.

Cake Poker.com Overview

Cake Poker is a member of the Revolution Gaming network, formerly known as Cake Poker. Cake recently decided to pull out of the US market and no longer accepts new US players.

Cake has recently released brand new software, which it is branding "Cake 2.0." In the new release, Cake Poker completely changed the look of its lobby and tables and made many upgrades and changes to the features of the old software. It also added two new games, War and Tourney Blackjack.

Cake Poker currently offers Limit, Pot-Limit, and NL Texas Hold'em as well as Limit and Pot-Limit Omaha Hi and Omaha Hi/Lo. The Omaha games have seen a nice boost in traffic lately, with stakes up to $5/$10 seeing consistent action.

Cake Poker's Sit & Go tournaments are fairly popular in relation to the average number of users connected. During the evening you should spot quite a few games running for every limit up to $50. Cake Poker's most popular SnG tournaments are the shorthanded turbos, which are 6-max with 6 minute blind levels paying the top 2 places. They also offer heads-up, 10-max, and 2 table tournaments for every limit.

Tournaments at Cake Poker have really come a long way since their inception. At one time a few hundred people would be enrolled, but they now have several thousand. Tourney buy-ins range from $.25+$.10 up to $200+$15. Their daily $100+$9 has a $17,500 guaranteed prize pool. These are getting the more participation and, as long as Cake Poker keeps building up player interest, they should keep rising in the online poker world. They also have a handy “Freeroll” tab that, at last look, showed around 5 freeroll satellites running every day - always a crowd-pleaser.

i would recommend this site to anyone
from beginners to pros. They have about
the best freerolls around that i have
found. The cards are bigger and easier
to see if your like me and can't see
well. Of all the pokersites i have
played i like this one the best. Try it
and you will like it.
