I have been playing at Bodog for 3 years. Its easy to make money there, but the lack of features might drive away some players.
Pros: Bodog has good customer support, loose fishy players. No problems with cashing out.
Cons: Not a lot of action. Peak number of players is rarely over 10,000. No more than 4 tables at once.

I have never deposited money into a poker room, the reason being I'm still dependant on my parents and they would've killed me. But, I secretly built my bankroll up to $0 thanks to the generous $500 freerolls Bodog has each day. Using the money I made from the freerolls, I played in the cash games and tournaments and slowly, over a span of two years, built my bankroll into $17000. It does take a lot of extra work: watching videos, reading strategy
articles, and participating on the forums, but Bodog is the best place to grow if you are a beginner.
There are lots of fish on the site, but they seem to have improved over the last couple of years. It won't be as loose as if you are playing live, but these players make noticeable mistakes all the time that you can take advantage of. The reason is a large number of players are casual gamblers in their 30's to 50's. The low amount of traffic, 4 table max rule, and lack of bonuses detract sharks from Bodog.
Some of the tournaments in Bodog are generous, such as the $500 freerolls and weekend guarantees. The $100k guaranteed is one of the most profitable tournaments in Bodog, due to many people not wanting to spend the $150 buyin fee. Even a below average tournament player can profit over the long run because of the ~$30,000 overlay. In fact, I placed 2nd a couple months ago to win $15000.
Customer support is very good. I usually get my checks within a week. Responses to questions are prompt, usually within 2 hours, though they sometimes leave you automated messages that don't help at all.
One thing I hate is the interface. They tried to make the tables look sleek and futuristic, but it doesn't make you feel like you are in a poker room. Also, the tables slow down my laptop. The font is unattractive, and the menus look ugly compared to newer poker rooms.

I've been on Bodog to some extent for
years. One of the best things about it
right now is the one free check a month
withdrawal. So, while other sites may
be charging as much as $40.00 for a
check or some other problem with cashing
out, Bodog still has their cash outs
fairly simple. The play is fair to
spectacular at times, with the later
being a sports betting-action-junky
gambling at your table I guess. I have
made the largest session wins by
#Bb in
my recent history here at about 150 to
200 Bb gain. One thing that worries me
is that some people can probably grab
data off of the site into hold em
manager using hand grabber, but, I do
not. So, I limit my poker play to once
a week, more or less, since I'm at a
disadvange to players with data up and
running. There is a very small Stud and
stud8 community too and this is the only
site that I have ever played Stud5 at,
if that's more than a weird sberation.
Support is probably the best in the
industry.

Great for Low Limits and Bonuses on 19 Nov 2008

I have accounts on Bodog, Poker Stars,
and Full Tilt. For Ring, I play almost
exclusively on Bodog.
Interface - Is better than any other
poker room, IMO. The tables are laid
out well, and the spotlight action is
the best. And this might seems like a
small thing, but the sounds are very
crisp. By comparison, Stars sounds like
a bad recording and is very annoying.
The only real drawback is that you can
only play 4 tables at once. Still,
perfect
for me.
Action - Very nice. It's not hard
getting a decent sized pot.
Customer Support - No problems
whatsoever.
Fish - There are pleny around, you just
have to wait them out.
Bonus - This is where Bodog really
shines. You get 110% on your initial
deposit, 10% of which is immediately
available for play. They also have an
awesome up to 100% reload bonus going on
now. Basically, every 30 days you can
reload, and you have 30 days to earn
enough poker points qualify for the
bonus. You qualify for $1 in bonus for
every 10 points, so $10/100. If you
deposit $50 per month, you only need to
accumulate 500 points in the next 30
days to get the full bonus. Even at
micro stakes ($10NL and $25NL), this is
very easy to do. And to top it all off,
you can conver points to cash once you
reach 500. 100 points = $1. So, you
deposit $50, you earn 500 point and get
your $50 reload bonus, then convert your
500 points to $5 cash. That's 110%
bonus EVERY MONTH. This simply cannot
be beat. I have a large balance at
Bodog, but I deposit $50 every 30 days
anyway.

Nice place, but hopes dashed by fishes on 17 Dec 2007
Interface:

I joined Bodog with high hopes and
thought that Bodog did show some promise
through all its features. With the
Sportsbook, Casino, and Poker Room, I
thought Bodog would be one of the better
sites I would play on, just for
entertainment value. After playing
there a while, my hopes and the promise
that Bodog showed would be dashed away
slowly at practically every corner.
The pluses to this site are that it is
very beginner friendly. There are
2
$500 and 1 $1000 guarantee freeroll
every day, which is a major lure for
players to play on their site.
Another big thing is their variation of
SnG tables, which I haven't seen on any
other poker site I've played at. Bodog
offers many heads up sit and go's,
tourny token SnG's, your typical
1-table top 3 bubble structure, and even
a 1-table top 5 bubble structure at the
low limits.
Some things that they could improve on
would be the amount of promotions they
have. They do have some nice promos for
your frequent player points, but the
only things you can really enter with
them are a 30 point $500 guarantee, 100
point players choice tourny, and a 100k
satellite qualifier. Also, a nice touch
is you can cash in your points for cash.
(at 100 points per $1) However, it no
where near compares to the amount of
promos some top poker sites, such as
Full Tilt, offer.
The downside to Bodog is the lack of
player base and the tables are mega
fishtanks. The amount of players per
flop at the low to mid limit tables is
usually somewhere around 50%, which is
just horrible. When I'd play a table,
virtually every single time a flush
draw/straight draw comes up, you can't
get 90% of these players to fold, no
matter how much you bet.
Though the site boasts a big sportsbook
and casino, it turns out you only can
use your money in specific sections of
Bodog. For example, if you put money
into Poker, you only can use it for
Poker, you can't use it in the casino
or sportsbook. I assume it's the same
for anything else for the site. So, I
was relegated to using my earnings only
for Poker, when I registered for the
site thinking I could spend my account
money in every section of Bodog.
Overall, sleek site with nice freerolls,
but the donks really ruined this site
for me.

This is truly the best site I have
played on so far. from my initial $20
deposit which I used to test the site, I
have cashed out over 2K and still have
$500 in the account. Someone said on a
review here that KK against AA is
"almost impossible", I would challenge
him to play live a few times just to see
how often that happens. Some of the bad
beat stories I have read on here are
laugable and are not bad beats at all.
If you go in on a 60/40 andyou
lose,
that is NOT A BAD BEAT. Even going up
agaist a 75/25 is not. I dont consider
anything less than a 10% chance on the
river a bad beat (1 or 2 outer). In the
long run if you go up against a flush
chaser, you will WIN more than you lose.
A lot of the time people hold Aces and
try to slow roll them, get caught and
then complain that they got "bodogged"
- that is not the site being rigged, its
the fact that they didnt raise the
person who beat them out of the pot.
This is also a good site for begginers,
as they have begginer SNG's for
building up your roll (top 5 spots pay
as opposed to 3).
Only problem I had was my first check
took 5 weeks, but thats fine, they
explained why and didnt palm me off with
a lame excuse. They have to use a 3rd
party, or they wouldnt be able to offer
their services to US players.

10 business days, as normal, but that
date came and went. I contacted them
and they said their third party
processor is currently experiencing
payout delays. They said they will keep
me up to date on the status of my check.
Of course, they don't, and I have
to
contact them regarding this situation.
The problem is they don't provide me
with any information. All that is said
is the third party processor is
restricted by the number of checks they
can process. They said they have no
contact with the processor, so they
can't give me any information??!!??
What? They keep giving me the

DEFINITELY NOT put any money into this

I started playing at Bodog a few weeks
ago and have liked what i've seen. The
interface is slick and has alot of nice
features(like picture in picture for
multi-tabling) but some people have
experienced frequent client crashes.
This is common with newly developed
software but frustrating nonetheless.
The $100 upfront bonus i received was
nice and was easily worked off within a
week playing 25nl tables. My bonus
didn't appear in my account
when i
first signed up so I called customer
support. The guy who answered was
helpful and on top of things and I had
my bonus within 5 minutes of being on
the phone, so i'd so the customer
support is pretty good.
Cashouts are easy and I had mine
processed and in my Firepay account in
less than an hour. Hard to beat that.
The competition is hard to describe, but
i will say that it's fairly easy to
make money here. Players for the most
part aren't bad and have at least a
fair knowledge of the game but they like
to GAMBLE. Don't be surprised if you
flop a set or some strong hand and raise
large/go all in to stop draws and have
3-5 people call. This leads to some big
payoffs and also to some ridiculous bad
beats. In the end though, if you're
putting the money in at the right times
you'll come out way ahead here.

The only warning they provide requires

Lots of tournament action, and the bonus

thing is the guaranteed tournaments,
because there is always a huge

also nice. layout is sleek, customer
service is good. people complain about
a lot of suckouts here, which I have

If you like action, this is the site for
you. However, the number of bad beats
and cold deck situations is amazing so
if you want anything like poker reality,
avoid the site. Very low probability
situations happen every few hands. I
have played several other sites,
including Party, and nothing compares to
Bodog in that regard. I have played
bodog for 2-3 months because I like the
reload bonuses and I haven't noticed
any correlation between cashouts
and bad
luck and I think that ould be almost
impossible to program anyway. The sort
of good news is that the draws out
affect everyone equally but the sheer
number of them means that chasers do not
do as badly as on other sites. What
makes me most suspicious is that they
will not allow downloading of hand
histories in the same way as other sites
so there is no way to analyse a large
number of hands as you can as on Party,
PokerStars, etc. Although I have made
reasonable money from Bodog, its because
I have adopted a defensive style that
assumes major draw outs and bad beats
happen a lot more often than normal. I
try to avoid the inevitable drawouts, or
at least lessen their impact, and make
more money when I hit one of the regular
monster hands. When I clear my current
bonus though I am going to change sites
as the situation has reached ridiculous
proportions in recent weeks. I find
myself typing 'amazing' at least ten
times per day and that is only for hands
in which I am involved. As I said at the
start, if your interest in poker is fun
and action and you aren't too bothered
about making lots of money, this site
will be fine. Those with tilty
tendencies stay away for the good of

Past midnight it does take awhile for

techincal/customer support was superb,

soundly beat the 50NL ring game and SNGs

found the bonuses relatively easy to

I've been playing Bodog for a while and
I'm happy with everything except for
the actual cards. The deposit/withdrawl
system is great, Sit 'n Go's are
cheap, game pace is fast and the
interface is nice.
Those are the pros. Now on to the cons.
When you win a game, you money doesn't
show up immediately in your account.
Sometimes you have have to log out then
log back in to see your new amount.
Here's the big con: the cards. I have
never; and
I mean never seen so many
hands made on the river. Every poker
site has it's quirks, but this is
absoutely rediculous. Bodog claims to
use the most updated randmizing
software, but their claim is pure bogus.
Beware when playing this site, because
unless your holding a royal flush, no
good hand is safe.
I know I sound like someone on tilt who
just took a couple bad beats. However,
I've experience this since day one and
have been on the winning side of bad
beats almost as much as the losing side.
Bottom line: it shouldn't be like
this. It takes the skill out of the
game and rewards players who call
anything on low percentage hands.
My advice...play Bodog at your own risk.

deposit/withdrawal system is the easiest
that I've ever seen. You can transfer
directly to and from your checking
account (with a lag of a couple of days)
without having to go through NetTeller
or other pay systems.
Also, the software is extremely sleek.
The avatars are very
helpful. The design
isn't tacky like a lot of other sites.
And, the action is fast. I tried
PartyPoker recently...and I was
extremely annoyed by how sluggish and
tacky everything was.
Some people have complained of getting
"Bodogged"...but I have a feeling that
these are people that can't handle bad
beats. It's a part of poker...and with
more hands online, you'll see more odd
hands. I've made quite a bit of money
playing on the site, so I don't quite
understand where these people are coming
from.
The only complaint that I have is that
there's not quite the variety of games
that a lot of the other sites offer. The
NLHE usually has at least a few active
tables at each level, but some of the
LimitHE/Omaha/Stud levels can be pretty
uninhabited.

game to jump in. .25/.50 NL and .50/1 NL
games are always running.
Support: some of the best in the
business. very fast.
Games/Fish: When Bodog opened its poker
room I was one of the first to deposit.
Low limit games were scary. Fish
everywhere and you just didn't know
what the other player had until the
cards were turned up. I made 3K
in less
than a month. Those days are now over.
They are loose but not as insane as it
was at opening day. Higher limits are
tight like UB or Stars. SNG and multi
table tourneys are VERY VERY tight.
Bonus: at first they were easy to clear
but now it is quite tough. Not worth
playing for a bonus now.
I am a BoDog regular and I play at least
three times a week for about an hour. I
always do two tables. Play has tightened
and I do not win as much money. But I
still show a profit here. I play 2/4 NL
most of the time.

Bodog Review on 24 Dec 2004

The Bodog Interface looks pretty good.
The avatars are a nice touch(they can be
hidden if you do not like them). The
Action is weak at the time of this
writing. The technical support is good.
I called the 888 number and received
prompt, professional help. The game was
tough for me. It could have been just a
short term thing but it seemed like
there were not as many fish as I had
hoped there would be. The bonus was
immediate for me. I saw
the 10% bonus
immediately after making the deposit. I
know 10% is not that much but having the
money show up right away without having
to play x number of raked hands was a
nice change.
