If you were starting to go through tournament withdrawal due to the recent finish of FTOPS XVII, you will be pleased to know that UB and the Cereus network are here to relieve your symptoms. The highly anticipated UB Online Championship (UBOC) kicks off today, along with Mini-UBOC for those that have smaller bankrolls. The series starts today and ends on August 29th, and it features $4 million in guaranteed prize pools.
With 20 events to choose from, UBOC 5 has a little something for everyone. No Limit Hold’em players will enjoy bounty events, 4-max competitions, rebuy tournaments, and much more. Omaha enthusiasts have a lot to choose from too, including a Pot Limit Omaha 1 rebuy 1 add-on, PLO8, and Limit Omaha 8 or better. If you’re a fan of mixed events, you have three to play: Event 2 features PLH/PLO, Event 12 offers HORSE, and Event 19 has 8 Game. The winner of each event will receive a UBOC watch to commemorate their victory.
The event that many people look forward to the most, though, is the final event of the series: Event 20, the UBOC Championship Monster Stack tournament. The event features No Limit Hold’em with a $1,000+$50 buy-in, and UB is guaranteeing $1 million for its prize pool. Dave “DOUBLEDAVE22″ D’Alesandro is the defending champion of this tournament. In UBOC 4 he won the event for an impressive $279,004.50.
As I stated above, Mini-UBOC is running at the same time as UBOC 5, and it features the same tournaments at smaller buy-ins. To make the next two weeks even more exciting, there is a Mini Leaderboard with some prizes for the winners. The winner of this leaderboard will win one of those special UBOC watches. The top 50 players on the leaderboard will be invited to play in a special freeroll that will award 5 seats to a Sunday $200k guaranteed tournament ($215 buy-in). This is a great opportunity for low stakes players to get into a big tournament.
It’s a great time to be a tournament enthusiast because all the biggest sites are offering huge tournament series multiple times a year. Whether you play high stakes or low stakes, UBOC 5 is sure to have something for you to look forward to. With $4 million and UBOC watches at stake, it’s safe to say that the prizes are definitely worth your time. Be sure to check back over the next two weeks because we will be covering a few UBOC 5 events right here on FTR.
