The Heartland Poker Tour now has a new owner. Federated Sports & Gaming made an announcement today stating it has acquired HPT.

HPT is the nation’s biggest grassroots poker tour. It is highly successful as an independent producer of poker content. Jeffrey Pollack, Federated Sports & Gaming’s chairman, calls HPT “one of the great success stories of the poker industry.” HPT provides poker players with tournaments featuring very affordable buy-ins. These tournaments are shown on television and are seen on more than 100 million American homes each week.

Todd Anderson and Greg Lang, the founders of HPT, will continue to manage HPT and their production team based in Frago, North Dakota. Anderson stated that the HPT’s merger with FS & G will create “an offering that serves aspiring enthusiasts in the game, as well as top poker professionals. This alliance will create bigger fields for HPT events, and even greater television coverage and viewership, which will ultimately benefit players, fans, and the game.”

Earlier this year, Federated Sports & Gaming introduced its poker league and its roster. Its season one roster consists of 200 of the world’s top professional poker players. The first four poker tournaments of the new poker league will be played in August. The first four tournaments will consist of four no limit hold’em tournaments. The tournaments will vary in format with two of the four tournaments being a six-max table format and a heads-up tournament. A special multi-format tournament will round out the poker league’s first season.
