It is as if Joran van der Sloot enjoys the negative spotlight. Most of you may remember the poker professional, van der Sloot, as the chief suspect in the disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway in 2005. He is now the prime suspect in the murder of another young woman, this time in Peru.

The 21-year old body of Stephany Flores was discovered in a Peruvian hotel on May 30th, 2010, the five-year anniversary of Natalee Holloway’s disappearance. In 2005, van der Sloot was the prime suspect in Natalee Holloway’s disappearance. Although he was arrested twice on suspicion of murder (and was even caught confessing to the crime multiple times!), police were unable to find sufficient evidence and he was released. This time, however, police have video evidence directly linking Joran van der Sloot and Stephany Flores as they were spotted at the Lima hotel shortly before the murder. Additionally, police interviewed a hotel worker who stated they saw a “foreigner” enter a room with the victim. Joran van der Sloot had apparently been traveling South America to take part in the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) and had went to Lima to take part in the LAPT Lima event due to start on June 2nd.

There has been recently developing news in the case of Joran van der Sloot. Most news reports state that he has fled to Chile by land where he is also being pursued by authorities there. However, some reports reveal that he has been found dead near the Peru border after committing suicide. There are no further details to the whereabouts of van der Sloot but FlopTurnRiver will keep you posted with any further news.
