MiniFTOPS continued yesterday with Event 6, the $31+$2 No Limit Hold’em Super Turbo tournament. Even though turbos (especially super turbos) are high variance and can be extremely frustrating, every tournament player has a special spot in their heart for them. After all, where else can you win tens of thousands of dollars in a mere two to three hours? Yesterday’s event had a $150k guarantee, and since only 4,836 people participated, there was a very slight overlay. Everyone started with 300 chips and blind levels lasted 5 minutes.
With 5 minute blinds and 10bb starting stacks, it’s not surprising that everything happened very quickly in Event 6. In no time at all players were on the final table bubble, and then all of a sudden they were 8-handed at the final table. IDontPlay6, who busted in 9th place, didn’t even end up playing a hand at the final table because he busted at the same time as the 10th place finisher.
Here were the stacks going into the final table:
Hippychik420 – 488,962
guudson1 – 295,121
MDMWINS – 175,878
williamyee – 153,616
Rhythmik – 144,916
icey30 – 110,445
Sir Don Bradman – 47,458
jt6565 – 34,404
Blinds were at 8,000/16,000 when the final table started, and considering a couple players only had 2 or 3bb to their name, it’s not surprising that only four players remained after the first ten hands of play. Here’s how the stacks looked when we were down to four:
Hippychik420 – 482,016
williamyee – 422,340
icey30 – 349,268
guudson1 – 196,676
The next to bust was guudson1. Forced to try to find a spot to double up, he pushed his 175k stack on the button with Q9o and he was isolated by icey30′s ATo. The one-toned flop brought guudson1 top pair, but icey30 turned the flush to eliminate guudson1. He received $9,900 for his efforts.
The next big hand came when williamyee was down to just 235k with ATo. He shoved over icey30′s open on the button and was faced with the task of sucking out on AJs, but he made everything look easy when the flop gave him top pair with a flush draw. The turn ensured his win by giving him the flush, and williamyee more than doubled up to over 500k.
A few hands later icey30 was forced to shove 55 on the button as he was the new short stack. Hippychik420 called in the big blind with 77, icey30 did not hit his two outer, and he busted in 3rd place for $13,320.
This meant that Hippychik420 and williamyee were now heads-up, Hippychik420 with a nearly 2 to 1 chip lead. Heads-up play lasted only ten hands, and it finished off with williamyee jamming K3o and getting called by Hippychik420′s K5s. Hippychik420 hit a 5 on the flop and williamyee didn’t go runner runner, so he received the 2nd place consolation prize of $18,600.
Congratulations to Hippychik420 for winning $26,850 and the silver jersey! Please see below for a complete list of the final table payouts. Stay tuned for more MiniFTOPS coverage on FTR!
