Gus Hansen is one of the best and certainly most recognizable players in poker. He is a regular host of the World Poker Tour on the Travel Channel and has won many tournaments. He recently won his first World Series of Poker bracelet in Europe at the High Stakes Heads-Up tournament. One would assume Hansen would take a short break from poker after his huge £288,409 win, but Hansen went to the virtual felt instead. He logged into his Full Tilt Poker account, an online poker site famous for its high stakes action, and had a lot of action waiting for him.

Hansen parlayed his WSOPE win with a huge win at Full Tilt Poker’s tables. He played 2,200 hands of high stakes games including $1,000/$2,000 HORSE, PLO Cap $500/$1,000, and $300/$600 PLO. Some of Full Tilt Poker’s most notable nosebleed players were at Hansen’s tables including Urindanger, Tom “durrrr” Dwan, harrington25, and Brian “Sbrugby” Townsend. Hansen had an astounding $658,000 night, but is still in the red for the year. However, with the way things have been going for him, he may be able to get out of his $1.4 million hole by the end of the year.

The biggest pot of the night was played between Hansen, durrrr, and Urindanger. Durrrr and urindanger posted their $300 and $600 blinds while Hansen raised to $2,400 on the button with KdTs9c6s. durrrr called with his KsQhJc2h and Urindanger squeezed to $9,900 with AcQsJs9s. Hansen and durrrr both called and saw the QcJd7s flop. Both durrrr and Urindanger flopped top two-pair while Hansen had 17 outs to improve to a straight. With approximately $49,000 left behind in all stacks, all the money went into the pot on the flop and the pot inflated to $177,259.50. Hansen rejoiced when the 8d turn hit and gave him the nut straight. The 3s river sealed his victory and shipped the huge pot his way.

Hansen has tried to recreate his huge win by continued play at the Full Tilt Poker’s$500/$1,000 PLO heads-up tables. He started October in the right fashion by booking a $215,416.25 win against DrugsOrMe and Illari “Ziigmund” Sahamies.
