Earlier this month, millions of people in Japan were devastated by an earthquake, a tsunami, and additional crises as a result of these natural disasters. Citizens of the world have gathered together in support of the grief-stricken country to donate their time and money. As usual, the poker community is no exception. Full Tilt Poker will be raising funds for Japanese families and are calling on poker players for help. PokerStars has also joined in on the relief effort. Both poker rooms will even match all donations to help with relief efforts. Players may donate in one of two ways at Full Tilt Poker.
Full Tilt Poker has made it easy for players to donate money to Japan. The first method of donating is through the ‘Aid for Japan’ Tournaments. Special ‘Aid for Japan’ tournaments will be hosted by Full Tilt Poker every day. The tournament fees paid by all registrants will be donated to the fund. For players that do not want to play in a tournament but still want to donate, Full Tilt Poker will set up ‘Donation’ tournaments. These “tournaments” will be open for registering at 18:30 ET on Sunday, March 27th. However, please note that they are not real tournaments and will not actually run. The entire buy-in will be added to the relief fund.
Please remember that Full Tilt Poker has obliged to match the funds raised and all funds will be donated to the relief effort in Japan. This means that all donations made will be doubled. We ask all FlopTurnRiver members try and donate something to the relief efforts in Japan.
