The 9th Full Tilt Series of Poker was in full swing when the time came for Event #16, the $200 + $16 Omaha/8 tournament. As with every FTOPS event the prize pool was bolstered considerably by the addition of a guaranteed cash sum, this time a healthy $200,000. When the buy-ins of the 856 runners had been included the total pool stood at $371,200.
Each FTOPS event has a professional host, and this time the honor went to young tournament supremo Scott Clements. The proud owner of not only 2 WSOP bracelets but 3 WPT titles, Scott is one of the most feared faces on the big money circuit. When you consider that all this has all been achieved in only 3 years as a pro you can really appreciate what a burgeoning talent he is. Having previously professed his love for Hi/Lo games, he and FTOPS IX Event #16 seemed the perfect match.
When all was said and done the overall winner was “nortti77″, who captured $45,000 for their first place finish. Head of the remaining 107 in-the-money finishers was “masterrace222″ in second and “dolphin75″ in third. They took home $28,000 and $21,000 respectively.
There were no Full Tilt pros on the final table, but Markus Golser came the closest, ending in a very respectable 14th place. Markus is an Austrian pro who primarily focuses on cash games. However his high result in Event #16 should come as no surprise given that he as already racked up 2 WSOP cashes and 3 EPT cashes in his career.
You need to look considerably further down the leaderboard to find the other group of FT pro’s who finished in the money. The trio being: Jon “PearlJammed” Turner (58th), Stuart Paterson (61st) and Jordan “iMsoLuckyO” Morgan (69th).
