There was certainly quite a variety of tournaments at the 8th annual Full Tilt Online Poker Series. Stud games, PL Omaha, HORSE, Razz, and of course regular old Hold’em were all featured at the FTOPS. But out of all of them, some people might consider the No Limit Hold’em Heads Up tourney to be the most interesting.
The tournament featured 512 players in all and the $500 + $35 buy-in they all paid pushed the grand prize total to $256,000. It was hosted by Paul Wasicka who didn’t make it too far into the tournament.
But one notable player that did fair pretty well was Jon “PearlJammed” Turner who finished at 40th place. Turner, who’s one of the best online players in the world, grabbed $1,152 for his efforts.
The real money was fought over by “Boondy” and “GoToChurch” though. Both players won 8 matches to get to the final and were still ready to play when they faced off.
The blinds stood at 3,000 and 6,000 and both players had a little over 775,000 chips. GoToChurch was able get the first three pots before the flop was seen. Actually, a flop wasn’t seen until 7 hands later.
The action didn’t last much longer after this as Boondy got all-in with pocket K’s on a dead board. Unfortunately for Boondy, GoToChurch held pocket A’s and took first place and the $51,200 that came with it. Boondy grabbed $29,952 for getting second.
