In a move to bring in more players, Americans in particular, the Everleaf gaming network is running a great promotion starting November 1st. All their US dollar cash game tables will rake a maximum of $1 per hand throughout November and December. Management has also hinted that if the promotion goes well, they may extend it beyond the New Year.

Although it may not sound like a huge change, the industry standard maximum rake for online cash games is currently $3 per hand. The effect of this promotion will be somewhat small at micro stakes, as few pots will reach the $20 mark where the savings start. But for low, mid and high stakes players this is an incredible offer that shouldn’t be missed out on. The Everleaf network and individual sites (such as LuvinPoker) will also maintain other concurrent promotional offers such as rake races during these two months.

Everleaf is currently a fairly small, but well run, network. This move should do well in attracting many new players and increasing their market share considerably. Recently some other sites have run similar promotions, though either not on the same scale, or not for the long term. This summer, the iPoker network introduced “Rake Break” tables as a small percentage of their cash game tables, while Party Poker made all their Multi-Table Tournaments rake free for a very short time.

The major networks will surely keep an eye on how this Everleaf promotion goes. If successful, it is possible that other sites may need to reconsider the old rake “standard” that has remained mostly unchanged since the dawn of online poker.

This promotion is only in effect for cash games played in US dollars. Tables with Euro and other currencies will keep their previous rake structures.
