The first event of the Epic Poker League is drawing closer: the ProAm event from August 5-8 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. The closer we get, the more information poker fans get. A list of Season One qualifiers has been released, along with Season Two qualification requirements and, of course, the tournament structures. The league also released photos of their champion rings and commissioner coins. Simple, classy, and something any poker player would like to display in their collection of bragging rights.
Epic Poker is starting off on the right foot by making their second tournament (August 7) a charity event. The poker tournament is a $240 buy-in with $100 rebuys for the first four levels. The tournament will provide assistance to Operation USA and the survivors of the Joplin, Missouri tornadoes. In good style, Epic Poker will donate the entire prize pool.
If you watch ESPN’s annual coverage of the WSOP, you’re sure to know that Brad Garrett, famed for his role in Everybody Loves Raymond, is an avid poker player. The amicable, giant-sized comic will play host to the charity tournament, while shoe company Zappos has contributed $2,500 to be added the first-place prize. Zappos also contributed $100 gift cards to all the poker players who enter the tournament. First place will take down the $2,500 from Zappos, a free seat at the $1,500 Epic Poker ProAm event, and an Epic Poker bracelet, produced by Good Art Hollywood. Runner up and third place also receive seats at the $1,500 Epic Poker ProAm event. Tune into CBS and Velocity to watch the events.
