Jennette Tan

Bodog has announced Jennette Tan as the latest addition to their Team Bodog. Nicknamed “Jay”, Tan is an Asian poker player who was born in Los Angeles. In addition to her beauty, she also holds a Masters Degree in Business. She briefly moved to Hong King to start a banking career at Goldman Sachs, but soon discovered poker and was drawn to it.

It did not take Tan long to determine that she has a knack for the game. She has cashed in a number of Macau poker tournaments in the past year, with her biggest cash so far being $40,622 for her 5th place finish in a Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon event.

Tan is very excited at the chance to represent Bodog and live the life of a professional poker player. At Bodog she will join two other accomplished female pros: Evelyn Ng and Tatjana Pasalic.

Already somewhat of a poker celebrity in the Asian poker scene, Tan will help to represent Bodog when their new Chinese poker client (Bodog88) is launched. Poker is becoming very popular in the south pacific region. There are already a number of large live poker series including in Asian Poker Tour (APT) and PokerStars’ Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) and their field sizes continue to grow.

Gillian Epp

The online poker site Bet24 has signed on another poker pro to their brand, Gillian Epp. The 27 year old is an established poker player who also writes columns for the poker magazines CasinoPlayer and PokerPro Canada.

At the age of 19, Gillian Epp started out as a poker dealer. It didn’t take her long to realize that she had a knack for the game. She quit her poker dealing job, as well as university, to become a professional poker player. She prefers cash games to tournament, as is evidenced by her quick rise from the mid-stakes games in Vancouver, Canada to the high stakes cash games in Las Vegas. The Bellagio is reportedly one of her favorite casinos.

She gets a rush by playing against the best players, allowing her to improve her game even more. “Playing against the best players raises your own level of play. I learn the most when I am put in challenging situations,” says the female pro.

She has preferred live games to online thus far, but now she will be throwing her hat into the online scene as she joins Bet24, a small, but growing site on the Ongame poker network. She joins other Bet24 pros such as Jesper Hougaard (the team captain), Thomas “Kalllllle” Pedersen, Casper Toft and half a dozen others. The Bet24 pros are from all over the world, including Sweden, Finland, Germany, Australia, Canada and the UK. Poker Manager of Bet24, Lards Kollind, is very happy with the way the team is shaping up. “We are getting very close to completing the elite of the 24s,” he says, referring to the two dozen spots they have reserved for pro players/ambassadors of their site.

Tweeden has been a popular face in the poker scene for a number of years. She is known not just for her beauty, but also her upbeat nature. She’s no slouch when it comes to poker strategy talk and commentary. She was the last host of NBC’s Poker After Dark for nearly three years, up until its abrupt cancellation following Black Friday. She also hosted NBC’s National Heads up Poker Championship.

Of the decision to pose nude, Tweeden was quoted as saying, “I think I look better now than when I was 21.” A very confidant woman, she’s also a self-described “voluptuous girl” who has benefited from other curvy celebrities such as Beyonce and J-Lo being in the spotlight.

The December issue of Playboy featuring Tweeden went on sale November 11th.

Courtney Gee is FlopTurnRiver’s Asian sensation. I’ve personally poked her over 20 times (on Facebook). Although her taste in guys is lacking, her poker skills make up for it. In 2010, Gee finished runner-up in the Full Tilt Double Deuce, pocketing over $20k. A few months later she was selected to be the Loose Cannon on the PokerStars Big Game. Look for her episode to air on FOX this summer.

Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree is so hot I would eat lima beans out of her, and I don’t even like lima beans. Besides her looks, Boeree also has brains. She has a degree in astrophysics and a PhD in giving guys a chubby bo bo. Oh, Boeree also won an EPT title. To date she has amassed over $2 million in tournament winnings so we know she isn’t the Anna Kournikova of poker. Liv, if you’re reading this, call me! If my wife answers, leave a message.

Mere words cannot describe the sexiness of Tom “durrrr” Dwan; therefore, I found this picture of him. Dwan has been running fools off the street since 2004. He has accumulated millions of dollars in cash games and tournament winnings. Many in the poker community consider Dwan to be the best headsup No Limit Hold’Em player on the planet. I don’t know how Dwan got to be so good at poker and good looking. If I had to speculate, I’d guess unicorn blood.

Poker professional Chad Brown was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, known as sarcoma. The cancer occurred in his abdomen as a 10 lb tumor, and days ago, Brown underwent surgery to have the tumor removed. Vanessa Rousso, his fiancé, and also a well-known poker pro herself, has kept the poker community abreast of the changes through her Twitter account.

Doyle Brunson exchanged tweets back and forth with Rousso, expressing his sympathy as a cancer survivor himself. The Godfather of Poker tweeted, “Any news from Chad Brown? Come on man, knock this out. I did it and so can you!!!! I’m a cancer survivor so if you want to talk, I’m your man.”

Brown has made a living for himself first as a poker player, second as a very like-able personality and presenter. His live tournament earnings exceed $3.1 million. His biggest cash came in 2006, where he pulled in a hefty $205,040. In the same event, Brown met his eventual-fiance Rousso. Brown later reminisced, “Not a bad day for me. I won a quarter of a million dollars and met my future fiancée. Does it get any better than that?”

Only a week ago, Brown was competing in a $1k rebuy event at the Commerce Casino in LA. Survival rates with radiation and chemo therapy range between 35% to 70%. Every case has its own aspects, however, and the poker community wishes only the best for Brown and Rousso.

The day after his operation, Brown tweeted, “I want to thank everyone for their tremendous support. It means a lot to me. We got through the 1st hurdle about as good as can be expected.”

Although we are envious, Rousso is a superb poker player who has made a name for herself at and away from the table. She has 13 WSOP cashes, 5 WPT cashes, and has finished in the money at a European Poker Tour event. Her career earnings amount to more than $2.5 million. Her beautiful body has been seen in Maxim and Sports Illustrated and her brilliant brain earned her a degree from Duke and a scholarship at the University of Miami Law School. In addition to her PokerStars’ sponsorship, Rousso is a GoDaddy Girl.

Chapman was captured earlier this year as part of an alleged Russian spy ring. Members of this spy ring were brought back to Russia in exchange for US allies and special operatives. Back in Russia, she was awarded a medal for her espionage services. She then appeared in a photo shoot for “Heat,” a Russian men’s magazine, and the Russian Maxim. Chapman seems to be using her newfound fame to market herself while the iron is still hot. Chapman is rumored to be a skilled poker player. Perhaps we will see her on the next season of High Stakes Poker?

Before becoming a poker player, Boeree attended the University of Manchester. She received top marks and went on to earn a physics degree in 2005. Next, she worked in a marketing firm for 18 months, but that became dull. Once she quit, her poker career began to blast off.

It all started when she was cast on a reality TV show that pitted her against fellow contests in heads-up poker matches. Boeree had a bit of help though. Phil Hellmuth, Annie Duke, and Dave “Devilfish” Ulliot were in her corner, coaching her along the way. After her first win she became infatuated with the game of poker.

After stints as a presenter and journalist, Boeree began her foray into tournament poker. In 2007, she won a $19,000 package to the Five Diamond Classic. Boeree struck again in 2008, taking down the Ladbrokes European Ladies Championship. Her two cashes in the 2008 WSOP proved she could hang with the big boys. In April 2010 she won EPT San Remo, taking home €1,250,000. The demand for Boeree was insatiable.

Boeree is an up and coming tournament force. The 26 year-old has a long career ahead of her to trump Jennifer Harman’s two WSOP Bracelets or Annie Duke’s 38 cashes at the WSOP. David Williams was a member of Bodog’s “Brat Pack.” However, that agreement dissolved and David Williams was a free agent. PokerStars jumped on snatching one of the most successful poker players on the scene at the moment with almost $8 million in live tournament poker winnings. Williams will be making an appearance at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas for a cocktail event as part of the expansive Team PokerStars.

The stunning Shannon Elizabeth, who played Nadia in the American Pie series, has signed with Carbon Poker and is now the face of Merge Gaming Network’s flagship site. Even though most poker players probably associate Shannon Elizabeth with the infamous dancing scene of the original American Pie, she is actually quite the poker player. Her greatest accomplishment was reaching the 2007 National Heads-Up Poker Championship. She defeated famous poker professionals Barry Greenstein, Humberto Brenes, and Jamie Gold to reach the semi-finals. She was knocked out at the hands of Paul Wasicka and was rewarded $125,000 for her efforts. A private party is planned in Las Vegas on July 4th and will unveil Shannon Elizabeth as the face of Carbon Poker. She will most likely enter the WSOP Main Event and hopefully make it on television for everybody to see.

Amanda Musumeci joins Team Bodog
