Almost 3000 players registered to test their poker skills and endurance in Full Tilt Poker’s MiniFTOPS 2 -Day event. Never have so many players entered a MiniFTOPS 2-Day tournament. $600,000 was up for grabs and antes kicked in from the beginning so you knew the action was going to be fast and furious. The event attracted a mix of unknowns, poker phenoms, and Full Tilt Red Pros who made a Full Tilt Poker Download.

Over 20 Full Tilt Red Pros participated, but none managed to cash. Toto Leonidas, a WSOP Bracelet winner, outlasted all the pros with his 649th place finish. Leonidas was knocked out nearly 300 places before the bubble. It’s amazing that WSOP Main Event Winner Carlos Mortensen, the gorgeous Mandy B, or the skilled Vitaly Lunkin could not put together a deep run.

First place finisher, and perhaps Bright Eyes fan, noliesjustlove collected over $100,000. His volume is not very high, but if you can play a couple tournaments and hit a six-figure-score then more power to you!

i1TheTerribl, runner-up finisher, has put in some decent volume. Omaha and No Limit Hold ‘em tournaments are his specialty. He has several final tables in Full Tilt Poker’s Guaranteed Tournaments and qualified for a $7,500 Merit Cyprus Classic seat. The $75,000 from this miniFTOPS Event is the biggest of his career.

This place finisher is aheggem is another solid player. The Minnesota native collected over $50,000 for his impressive finish in the miniFTOPS 2-Day Event. He has several impressive scores of about $10,000 each at Full Tilt Poker in 2010.

Event #29 (2-Day) – NL Hold’em, 6-Max
Players: 2,997
Buy-In: $200 + $16
Prize Pool: $600,000

1.	noliesjustlove	$118,152.00
2.	i1TheTerribl	$74,520.00
3.	aheggem	$51,120.00
4.	sh2007	$39,000.00

After nearly two weeks of high-octane action, the MiniFTOPS finally drew to a close earlier this morning. There’s just enough time to take a look at the ups and downs of this final tournament and congratulate the player crowned overall champion of this giant mini-series.

The MiniFTOPS XVIII Main Event got underway with a bang early yesterday evening, requiring its 15,527 entrants to stump up $70 + $5 for the privilege. The team at Full Tilt have an uncanny knack for pitching their guaranteed prize pools just right. This series ender came with a guarantee of $1 million and the collected buy-ins just tipped over that total. When every entry fee had been collected, the total prize pool stood at $1,086,890.

Every FTOPS event, mini or massive, has a professional host and the MiniFTOPS Main Event was no exception. Mike Swick might have been a more unconventional choice, given that he is primarily a Mixed Martial Arts fighter. However, dig beneath the surface and you’ll discover a man with a rich poker pedigree. The two-time WSOP casher overcame heart problems to compete successfully in the Ultimate Fighter, winning his first two bouts in under 30 seconds. In between pummeling things he likes to keep his poker game in tip-top condition. In 2008 he was named among the top 4% online poker players in the world.

Swick’s hosting role was the second part in an MMA tie-in that saw ringmaster Bruce Buffer host the penultimate MiniFTOPS event. He also competed under a Red Pro title in the Main Event, but failed to cash. Among those joining him at the rail without a profit were Vitaly Lunkin, Scott Fischman, Roy Winston, Jon Turner, Jeff Madsen, Huck Seed, David Pham, Brandon Adams, Andrew Black, and Aaron Bartley. Not all the sponsored competitors were so unlucky. Somyung Sim will be the toast of Team Full Tilt this morning, notching up a solid 79th place finish. Also sneaking into the cash spots were Yongsuk Chang (351st), Michael Craig (1024th), Roberto Romanello (1064th), Luigi Kwaysser (1076th), Melanie Weisner (1232nd), and Farzard Bonyadi (1542nd).

Long after the last pro had fallen, the tournament reached its final table. We join the action 6-handed, with the chip stacks as follows:

(Players listed in seat order)

poco_kid: 7,015,9110
r u KIDDINGG ME: 14,198,178
galaktiko: 26,704,063
dicesare86: 17,015,694
The_Dean221: 11,957,722
castellimich: 39,560,932

With 6 players remaining, the first big pot took place between The_Dean221 and dicesare86. Following a tentative 1.1 million raise from dices, The_Dean took things up a few notches by committing his entire 11.4 million stack. dicesare86 made the call and the players flipped their cards. It turned out to be a straight coinflip, with The_Dean’s A-Q up against his opponent’s pocket 7s. The board ran out 8-J-5-K-10 to spike The_Dean’s gutshot at the last second. That left dicesare86 with around 5.7 million and his tournament life on the rocks.

However, he would not be leaving the Main Event in 6th place. That honor went to r u KIDDINGG ME, who kicked off his final pot by raising all-in to 7.9 million. The_Dean was once again a major player, giving himself some protection by re-raising to 15 million. Everyone stood out of his way and watched the A-10 vs. A-K hand play out. r u KIDDINGG ME held the dominated hand and a flop that completely missed both players was enough to boot him out of the tournament.

Next to go was galaktiko, yet another victim of The_Dean221. All the betting was done before any communal cards hit the virtual felt, galaktiko flipping K-Q to put him behind The_Dean’s A-Q. There were to be no suckouts on the 3-3-6-2-6 flop and galaktiko boarded his spaceship with his 5th place winnings in tow.

The_Dean, known to his friends and family as Grayson Nichols, profited greatly from his ruthless streak. Those eliminations put him in the same ballpark as castellimich in terms of chip stacks. Not to be outdone, castellimich attempted to begin his own reign of terror, choosing diceare86 as his first victim. Things didn’t go quite to plan, with dice doubling up twice with a couple of lucky hands. Eventually, it was castellimich who was all-in against dice. With the board reading 4-3-Q-6, dice made an unwise call and found his Q-9 top pair staring down the barrel of a turned set of 6s. Things didn’t improve on the river and dice was left on life support. Who else would arrive to finish the job, but The_Dean? Mr. Nichols come out on top of a quick coinflip to dispatch his third victim in a row.

A little while later, poco_kid found himself very short. He did manage a quick double up through The_Dean221, but the table’s big stack would not be beaten so easily. A few hands later the pair tangled again, all-in preflop with The_Dean hitting a flush to easily better poco’s 4-4.

At the start of heads up play the stacks were as follows:

castellimich (36,468,464)
The_Dean221 (79,984,036)

At this point the clock was brought to a halt and the remaining duo discussed the possibility of a deal. The_Dean221 was the first player to make a suggestion, which castellimich took his time mulling over. At first the shorter stacked player rejected the offer in favor of making his own calculation, but The_Dean told him it was his offer or nothing. Eventually castellimich relented and the money was split $142,086.60 to The_Dean221 and $125,222.42 to castellimich. That left an extra $10k and the MiniFTOPS XVIII title to play for.

Now follows a complete account of the entire heads up contest: In the first one-on-one players threw their stacks in pre-flop, castellimich turning up A-K and The_Dean flagrantly revealing a couple of ducks. The board ran out J-5-6-10-9 to gift The_Dean221 the victory, holding nothing more than a pair of 2s.

The full final table payouts were as follows:

1st: The_Dean221 ($152,086.69)
2nd: castellimich ($125,222.42)
3rd: poco_kid ($78,799.52)
4th: dicesare86 ($56,518.28)
5th: galaktiko ($40,214.93)
6th: r u KIDDINGG me ($28,802.58)
7th: Dejvv ($20,650.91)
8th: I Pay Ur Rent ($15,216.46)
9th: profcrim ($10,760.21)

Even with the FullTilt Mini Online Poker Series nearing an end there are still a handful of big events left. The appropriately named miniature version of the FullTilt Online Poker Series has hosted 31 events so far and with just three remaining on Sunday the race for a big score is coming to a close. Event #31 which began and ended Saturday on FullTilt saw a big smaller than expected field compete in the $150,000 guaranteed event. With just 3,443 entrants on hand FullTilt had to dig into their pockets and pull out more than $12,000 in overlay. Those seeing a $52+3 buy-in event and more than 3,000 players might be puzzled as to why there was only a $150,000 prize pool. A closer examination shows Event #31 was a Knock-Out style tournament paying $12 to each player every time he/she eliminated a fellow competitor. With just $40 of the $52 buy-in going to the prize pool the 3,443 players only created a $137,720 pot.

The tournament was hosted by FullTilt sponsored professional Monte Kouz who is an old school poker player dating back to before the online boom. His $132,000 score in the Queen Poker Classic in 1995 still rates as his best cash to date. Kouz was joined by 20 other FullTilt professionals including David “The Dragon” Pham, WSOP bracelet winner Scott Fischman, and high-stakes grinder Steve Yea. A handful of professionals were able to sneak into the money but none could muster a big run. Yea (291st place) was joined by Yongsuk Chang (271st) and Jono Karamalikis (258th) in the money but all settled for small scores. The Super Turbo format probably hurt the professional player as the luck-factor increases greatly with the blinds escalating so quickly.

The final table came and went in a hurry. With the blinds skyrocketing and stacks becoming very short the final four players decided on a chip chop which broke up the remaining $74,000 prize pool. The player with the most chips at the time of the chop was “Selinantis” who took down the 2nd $20,000+ score his career on FullTilt. The small-stakes grinder proved why the MiniFTOPS series is great for those who enjoy playing lower buy-in events. His other $20,000 score came in the $200k Double Deuce this past June which saw him take down a field of 9,083 for the win. Runner-up “Pero1990″ was another great example of a player hitting a big score in MiniFTOPS XVII. His $20,663 cash ranks as the best of his career by nearly $15,000! The final two members of the chip-chop group “Your Player ID” and “LamaBeast” also shipped the biggest scores of their career.

Congratulations goes to Selinantis and all 378 players who made the money in MiniFTOPS XVII Event #31!

FullTilt MiniFTOPS Event #31 $150k Guaranteed

September is definitely the month to be a micro tournament player at Full Tilt Poker! While those players with a lot of time and deep pockets can find tournament action pretty much whenever they want to, for those of us a little more on the conservative side of things, it can be pretty hard to find decent tournaments that don’t break the bank. That’s all changed this month, though, with Full Tilt hosting MiniFTOPS, offering micro tournament players a chance to risk a little and win a lot. Event 26 concluded yesterday, with the top prize going to THHIG.

For those of you new to online poker, the term FTOPS may sound a little alien. It’s something you’re definitely going to want to get used to saying, however, as the Full Tilt Online Poker Series is one of the biggest poker tournament series online, offering a whole range of events and fantastic guaranteed prize pools. The one drawback is the buy-in, but Full Tilt has thought of this too, and hosts MiniFTOPS – all the same events but at one tenth the buy-in. The prizepools tend to shrink by much less than the buy-ins, too, with this MiniFTOPS XVII guaranteeing more than $6 Million over its 34 events.

The 26th event took place yesterday, drawing a massive crowd. The tournament was a Super Stack 6max No Limit Hold’Em event. 6max tables allow, as the name suggests, only a maximum of six players at each table. This has the general effect of making games much more aggressive, as the blinds come round more quickly than in 9-handed games, meaning it’s too costly to simply sit and wait for premium hands. We all know that when the chips get flying a lot of luck can be involved, but the Super Stack element of the tournament starts each players with a very solid number of big blinds, so as to still leave room for skillful play.

$150,000 was guaranteed as the prize pool for this event, which is an insane amount of money when contrasted with the $20 + $2 buy-in. Whether by buying in outright or playing their way in through one of many satellite tournaments, 9391 players turned up on the day to spar off on the virtual felt. This giant crowd lead to a prize pool of $187,820, easily exceeding the guarantee and offering pay outs to the top 1080 players, with first receiving just over $30,000.

Each FTOPS and MiniFTOPS event has a Full Tilt Host, and for Event 26 it was Jonathan Karamalikis stepping up to the plate, bringing his experience as a tournament player to the forefront. Perhaps best known for winning the No Limit Hold’Em Bounty Event at this year’s Aussie Millions, Karamalikis was not so lucky today, eventually finishing in 5740th place. Also representing Full Tilt were a host of Red Pros, top among them Alfredo ‘Toto’ Leonidas. Winner of the 2003 US Poker Championship and owner of a World Series of Poker bracelet, Leonidas ran deep in this MiniFTOPS event, placing 76th for a prize of $225.38.

It was Norwegian player THHIG who proved victorious on the day. The great thing about poker is that anybody can rise to fame at any time, and while THHIG is a scarcely known player in the online poker world, this week he’s proven that he’s got what it takes to excel. For battling his way through ten and a half hours of poker and 9,390 fierce opponents, he walks away with the first place title and the prize of $30,239.20.

This was another great MiniFTOPS event, and it’s truly a sad thing that the series is shortly coming to a close. It’s definitely not going to be winding down and slowly fading out of existence, however, rather it’s ending with a bang. The Main Event takes place on September 19th, and has a staggering guaranteed prize pool of $1,000,000, so make sure you register and don’t miss out on your share of the cash.

The official final table results are as follows:

1. THHIG – $30,239.02
2. petegotaplan – $19,796.23
3. margaret1954 – $14,247.32
4. Kinimod99 – $9,391
5. SirBanks – $6,010.24
6. RUSLANJKE – $3,944.22

The highly anticipated Event 24 took place yesterday, a $20+$2 No Limit Hold’em Cashout tournament hosted by Eddy Scharf. The guaranteed prize pool was $60,000, but only 5,296 players participated, creating an overlay of $7,040. Everyone started with 5,000 chips at 10/20 blinds. Early on the blind levels were 10 minutes, but as usual for these events, eventually they became 15 minutes long.

Like Rush tournaments, Cashout tournaments are exclusive to Full Tilt Poker. Half of your buy-in goes into the prize pool and the other half goes into the cashout pool. If, at any given time, you have at least 10% of your original starting stack, you can choose to cashout your chips. 500 chips are worth $1. The money is deposited into your account and your chips are removed from the tournament. You can also choose to do partial cashouts in increments of 500 chips. If you are eliminated before you get the chance to cash anything out, you just get paid a prize pool amount depending on when you bust.

Something else to note is that once the final table forms, everyone automatically receives their share of the remaining cashout pool according to their chip stacks. Here were the stacks when the final table formed and their corresponding cashout amounts:

1 – Cwolf913 – 4,261,980 – $8,524.01
2 – Rhyno89 – 2,501,620 – $5,003.29
3 – ZiuPavel – 2,296,340 – $4,592.73
4 – Purple Tello – 1,774,484 – $3,549.01
5 – Sujiru Kifuja – 1,502,861 – $3,005.77
6 – blankz plz – 1,395,996 – $2,792.03
7 – HhCMotU23 – 1,304,080 – $2,608.20
8 – BigMOneySundays – 821,021 – $1,642.08
9 – JustShipIt77 – 612,746 – $1,225.53

The first bust occurred during the first blind level of the final table. The short stack, JustShipIt77, decided to go all in for his remaining stack with 58s in early position, and Cwolf913 made the call with AJs. JustShipIt77 could not get lucky and he was eliminated for $762.

It didn’t take long for the next knock out. Purple Tello had gotten short, and during the same blind level he decided to push in late position with 88. He unfortunately ran into Rhyno89’s AA, did not find help from the board cards, and left the tournament in 8th place for $1,128.

HhCMotu23 busted out 7th for $1,590 after running QJo into Sujiru Kifuja’s AKs, so now let’s fast forward to 6-handed action. Blinds were up to 60k/120k with a 15k ante. Cwolf913 min raised UTG and got 3-bet by Sujiru Kifuja on the button to 622,520. Cwolf913 4-bet pushed his remaining 3,596,588 with JJ and was disappointed when Sujiru Kifuja quickly called with AA. Cwolf913 busted the tournament in 6th place for $2,226.

At this point, Sujiru Kifuja turned on his beast mode switch and started crushing the table. First he busted blanks plz blind versus blind with 99 versus blanks plz’s K8o. blanks plz received $3,000 for 5th place. Then Sujiru Kifuja called Rhyno89’s push with ATs and held versus Rhyno89’s A7o. Rhyno89 was eliminated in 4th for $3,960.

And Sujiru Kifuja wasn’t done yet – he wanted another elimination before heads-up play took place. BigMoneySundays, who pushed A9o 3-handed, would become his next victim. Sujiru Kifuja called with KQs and outran the A9o, and BigMoneySundays earned $5,340 for 3rd place.

With so many eliminations, it’s not surprising that Sujiru Kifuja started with a huge chip lead: 14,457,011 to ZiuPavel’s 2,014,117. ZiuPavel worked his way up, however, and soon he outstacked Sujiru Kifuja by a small margin. This led the way to the biggest hand of the night. ZiuPavel raised in the SB and called a 3-bet. Sujiru Kifuja made a continuation bet on the flop and called when ZiuPavel raised him. Then Sujiru Kifuja checked the turn and called when ZiuPavel jammed:

ZiuPavel’s tournament was pretty much over after his failed bluff. A few hands later he got the rest of his chips in behind and finally busted in 2nd for $7,800. Congratulations to Sujiru Kifuja for winning the 1st place prize of $11,100! Please see below for a full list of final table cashes, and be sure to come back to FTR for more MiniFTOPS coverage.

1 – Sujiru Kifuja – $11,100
2 – ZiuPavel – $7,800
3 – BigMoneySundays – $5,340

MiniFTOPS is in full swing and it was quite apparent when over 2500 player registered for MiniFTOPS 19 No Limit Hold ‘Em Shootout. In a Shootout format, players must win their table before advancing to the next table full of other table winners. First place was the only thing on their mind because over $125,000 was up for grabs.

Even MiniFTOPS Events attract Full Tilt Red Pros. Event 19 was hosted by Asian beauty and high stakes cash gamer Lynette Chan. Unfortunately, the lovely host failed to make the money. Stuart Patterson, Jono Karamalikis, and UFC announcer Bruce Buffer did make the cash. A tournament terror and Full Tilt Pro managed to make an ever elusive final table. Also known as PearlJammed, Turner finished in 7th place and added to his $1.6 million in online winnings.

Besting Jon Turner, and the rest of the field, was NoMoDRAMA1. He isn’t a grinder like some players, but he does have some solid finishes. His MiniFTOPS victory, which earned him over $21,000, is by far the biggest score of his career. We want to see Mo’ NoMoDRAMA1 at the tables and hope he continues his hot streak.

Runner-up Sir Streit is also a relatively unknown. He is running hot in September though, no doubt. After his second place finish, he finished second place again in the The Fifty-Fifty, pocketing almost $6,5000. He has almost $20,000 in winnings this month. OTT CANADA, the third place finisher, excels at tournament poker as well as the caps lock button. He has over $250,000 in career earnings across PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, and UB. He final tabled the Sunday Warm-Up in 2007 and won $21,000, his biggest score to date.

MiniFTOPS rolls on until the $1,000,000 Main Event on September, 19. As these guys proved, you don’t have to be a pro to make big money. MiniFTOPS is an excellent opportunity to try out Full Tilt Poker today!

MiniFTOPS XVII is a week old today and to celebrate it’s hosting a bunch of online poker tournaments. The climactic event of the first seven days was Event #18, a straightforward No Limit Hold’em Turbo contest. Full Tilt is laying on a whole variety of different formats and styles for the MiniFTOPS, including the unfailingly popular Rush Poker. If Event #18 is anything to go by, the vanilla tournaments may be suffering by comparison. The 6,875 $20 buy-ins failed to match the $150,000 guarantee. This was great news for all those those players who did enter, providing a slice of added value to each and every buy-in.

The host for Event #18 was a understated gentleman by the name of Alfredo Leonidas. The Filipino pro better known as Toto is famous for his laconic table presence and prodigious talent. There’s no better certificate of poker authenticity than a WSOP bracelet and Toto won his very own in the 2003 $1.5k 7-Card Stud event. Among his other tournament successes are a victory in the 2003 U.S. Poker Championship and 3rd place finish in the 2005 Bay 101 Shooting Star.

Toto didn’t manage to break into the 900 paid places in Event #18, but a handful of his Team Full Tilt compatriots did puncture the bubble. Aaron Bartley (267th), Dave Colclough (292nd), Joseph Cheong (146th), and Pas Lefrancois (323rd) all bagged a little cash. Among the Red Pros who didn’t see any return on their $20 were Jon Turner, Kelly Kim, Raul Oliveira, and Scott Fischman.

The action in Event #18 was fast and furious, with the whole tournament coming to a close in just under 4 hours. The final tablers also seemed keen to bring proceedings to a speedy conclusion, chopping the prize money four ways. That left a little cash, some exclusive Full Tilt merch, and a whole heap of pride left to play for. Pal73 made out best from the deal, exiting in 4th place, just before omGikisseDagirL bowed out. That left the relatively unknown cusetown315 to compete against internet expert p00cket00. The Brampton, Ontario native – better known as Sebastian Sikarski – has lifetime online winnings of almost $2 million, but couldn’t make his experience tell on the night. When the dust had settled, cusetown315 was crowed the MiniFTOPS Event #18 champion.

Final table payouts:

1st: cusetown315 ($20,126.83)
2nd: p00cket00 ($14,752.37)
3rd: omGikisseDagirL ($13,915.90)
4th: Pal73 ($14,729.90)
5th: Ronnie Ruthless ($6,750)
6th: elgoliardo ($4,800)
7th: pigin1984 ($3,195)
8th: jeyjey76 ($2,200)
9th: hazarrrd1 ($1,560)

One of the biggest events of MiniFTOPS XVII came to an end Tuesday morning. Event #16, a $100+$9 deep-stack NL tournament, attracted more than 4,000 players creating a $401,100 prize pool. The tournament was initially guaranteed for just $300,000 but easily bust through that mark with time to spare. With just 450 players making the money there was plenty of action as players held much deeper stacks than in normal events.

The super-stack structure along with a bigger buy-in brought out a lot of FullTilt sponsored professionals including Event #16 host Eli Elezra. A Las Vegas based businessman, Elezra is mostly known as a high-stakes cash game specialist who has appeared on shows such as GSN’s “High Stakes Poker” and NBC’s “Poker After Dark”. Elezra is a feared mixed game competitor who has honed his skills over the years by playing in Bobby’s Room at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Unfortunately Elezra couldn’t find his way into the money in Event 16 as he busted in 3134th place.

Eli was joined by nearly 30 other FullTilt sponsored professionals including Lee Watkinson, David Pham, Steve Zolotow, and Toto Leonidas. A handful of the FullTilt crew made the money including Jono Karamalikis who nearly final tabled Event 16 before busting in 14th place. Known as “xMONSTERxDONGx” before becoming a FullTilt Pro Karamalikis was and is one of the best online tournament players in the world. With nearly $2,000,000 in combined cashes between FullTilt and PokerStars he has proven himself on the biggest stage in both FTOPS and WCOOP events. Other professionals making the money included Somyung Sim, Steve Brecher, and Svetlana Gromenkova who all finished outside the top 100.

The final table was highlighted by a former MiniFTOPS champion, “Shreddar12″, who won MiniFTOPS XVI Event #5 earlier this year for a $70,200 payday. As they say history has a funny way of repeating itself as he again took down a huge score winning Event #16 for $79,417. Coming in third was Steve “fishfinder22″ Bungay, a mid-stakes grinder with a bunch of solid scores to his name including a $57,195 win in the Super Tuesday last year on PokerStars. The rest of the final table was full of relatively unknown players who could not unseat shreddar12 for the title. Stay tuned for more updates on MiniFTOPS XVII and the 2010 WCOOP through FlopTurnRiver.com!

Congratulations goes to shreddar12 and all 450 players who made the money in MiniFTOPS XVII Event #16!

The Full Tilt Online Poker Series may have finished, but its little brother has only just begun. The MiniFTOPS XVII has an identical schedule to the original FTOPS, yet with buy-ins at only a fraction of the cost. Event #11 was structured as a knockout tournament where players receive $2 for each player they send to the rail. A total of 25,674 players put down $12 + $1 to shatter the $200,000 guarantee. A prize pool of $256,740 was created with 3,240 places to be paid.

The knockout event was hosted by poker professional Valdemar “Luigi” Kwaysser. Luigi began playing Five-Card Draw in 2005 before taking up No Limit Hold ‘Em. He quickly learned the game and went down the multi-table tournament route. His first success in a live tournament was his win at the Latin American Poker Tour in San Jose, Costa Rica (which he qualified for online) netting him $274,102. On June 20th of 2010, he won his first World Series of Poker bracelet in the $10,000 Pot-Limit Hold ‘Em event and won $617,214. Unfortunately, he was unable to find the same luck during Event #11 of the MiniFTOPS and finished in 14,927th place.

The final table and their respective payouts were as follows:
1 – bignamba10 – $37,150.28
2 – Tuan_505 – $24,390.30
3 – BGHAN – $16,944.84
4 – FraRoma87 – $12,066.78
5 – kunkles27 – $8,472.42
6 – newvdc – $6,161.76
7 – bdecker7649 – $4,621.32
8 – resiak1 – $3,414.64
9 – Woodik_chel – $2,413.36

Congratulations to bignamba10 on his huge win and his silver jersey!

This past Sunday was significant even for small stakes tournament players as two huge MiniFTOPS events were scheduled to take place. The second of the day featured No Limit Hold’em with a $30+$3 buy-in and an absolutely amazing $400k guaranteed. An astounding 15,914 players registered for the event, creating a prize pool that surpassed the guarantee and boasted $72,873 for 1st place. It isn’t every day you can win over $70k in a $33 freeze-out!

It also isn’t every day you encounter a $33 tournament with such a good structure. Everyone started with 5,000 chips, and the blinds started at 10/20. While the blind levels were only 12 minutes at the start of the tournament, they slowly increased as time went on. The levels near the end of the tournament were 20 minutes long.

The top 1,890 players cashed the event, with the minimum cash being $47.74. JonoKaramilikis was the best finishing Full Tilt Pro at 696th place for $100.26.

Now let us dive in to some final table action. Here were the stacks going into the final table:

1 – AAKingKilaAA – 20,456,128
2 – PaULiStAnOPimP – 16,158,872
3 – Obvamentz_IMO – 11,545,843
4 – SPK69 – 7,497,876
5 – qwaccok – 7,302,014
6 – pmshoww – 6,354,945
7 – porkey_m11 – 3,918,675
8 – TigBitties2 – 3,181,724
9 – Ch3rish – 3,153,923

The first big hand at the final table was a big double up rather than a bust. In a blind versus blind pot, qwaccok made a large raise and TigBitties2 pushed over the top with A7o. qwaccok quickly called with QQ, but his hand would not hold as an A appeared on the flop right away. TigBitties2 breathed a sigh of relief as the rest of the table sighed in disappointment, and play continued.

One blind level later qwaccok got another huge pocket pair, and this time it would hold. He raised it a bit over the minimum UTG and porkey_m11 pushed all-in in the SB with 88. The board came A high, but this time qwaccok was pleased to see it as he held AA. porkey_m11 busted in 9th place for a relatively disappointing $4,726.46.

The next elimination came during the same blind level. TigBitties2 min raised in mid position with ATo and pmshoww shoved over with an 18bb stack with KQo in the SB. TigBitties2 quickly called, and as pmshoww was unable to hit a pair, he busted in 8th place for $6,683.88.

Let’s move on to the next blind level, 170k/340k with a 40k ante. AAKingKillaAA opened for 700k on the button and SPK69 pushed all-in in the BB for 7.1 million chips. AAKingKillaAA called with AJs and was racing against SPK69’s TT. The flop came J high and SPK69 did not hit a T, so he was sent to the rail in 7th place for $9,070.98.

Obvamentz_IMO did not enjoy the sequence of hands that occurred shortly afterward. He was sitting on a comfortable 48bb stack 6-handed, but he lost a flip with AKo to qwaccok’s 66 and quickly lost almost half of it. He then got very unlucky and lost an all-in preflop pot to Ch3rish with AQo versus ATs, leaving him with a mere 10bb. He must have been understandably frustrated at this point, and he shoved his last 4.4 million chips on the CO with 75s. He got called by TigBitties2’s ATo in the BB and could not win the hand, leaving him with just 500,000 chips. He busted the very next hand and ended up with the first five figure cash of the night: $12,651.63.

The final table was now 5-handed, but for some reason qwaccok, who was 2nd in chips, sat out at this point. His stack became dead money and play continued on with 4 players.

Ch3rish was the next to go. He pushed over PaULiStAnOPimP’s CO raise and PaULiStAnOPimP called with TT. Ch3rish had A5s but was not able to hit a pair or a flush, so he busted in 5th place for $17,664.54.

Several chips were traded between the remaining players before the next elimination. Soon AAKingKillaAA was the chip leader and TigBitties2 was the short stack, although qwaccok, who was still sitting out, had him outchipped by only a slim margin.

TigBitties2 would not hang around long enough to wait for qwaccok to blind out, however. He decided to limp/call the chipleader’s raise UTG with A9o. He eventually got it in with top pair on a 983 flop, but AAKingKillaAA had QQ. The board came running 6s which did not help TigBitties2, and he busted in 4th place for $24,825.84.

No one else would bust before qwaccok blinded out. PaULiStAnOPimP doubled up, and then the two remaining players traded chips until qwaccok’s stack was 0 and he was removed from the table in 3rd place for $34,612.95. That’s not to say that AAKingKilla and PaULiStAnOPimP merely folded to each other while qwaccok was sitting out, but I daresay they decided to play more cautiously than usual.

When they were finally heads-up, the two players made a deal. 1st place was originally set at $72,873.39 and 2nd was set at $48,935.55. With the deal, PaULiStAnOPimP received $64,050.70 and AAKingKillaAA received $57,758.24. The two players then went on to play for leaderboard points and the silver jersey. They ended up getting it in on a flop where PaULiStAnOPimP had top pair and AAKingKillaAA had bottom pair. PaULiStAnOPimP’s hand held and he claimed the official 1st place spot in the tournament.
