Something To Think About

Posted on 29 September 2008 at 6:33 am EDT by spoonitnow | Permalink

The following are two different translations of Chapter 2 of the Tao Te Ching. Here is the first:
When beauty is abstracted
Then ugliness has been implied;
When good is abstracted
Then evil has been implied.
So alive and dead are abstracted from nature,
Difficult and easy abstracted from progress,
Long and short abstracted from contrast,
High and low abstracted from depth,
Song and […]

Restoring Structure

Posted on 26 September 2008 at 4:13 pm EDT by spoonitnow | Permalink

After two or three months of playing around 60% of the hands that I normally would, I’ve decided that it’s in my best interest to try to create a better structure for playing in my current environment. My goal is 3000 hands each day, seven days a week. Most of these hands will probably be […]

Genius

Posted on 25 June 2008 at 4:07 am EDT by Jack Sawyer | Permalink

Its incredible how a hot run can make you feel like a fucking genius, but when you catch a bad run of cards you also feel that the world is against you. Well, what wrong in the previous sentence? The word ‘feel’/
Feeling has no place at the poker table. Feeling has place in the bedroom, […]

I swims with the fishes

Posted on 26 February 2008 at 10:15 am EST by Monty3038 | Permalink

Yes, it’s bad grammar.  Duh.
Ok, so when I started this poker journey, it was more of a fluke.  Maybe that is why I am now shown as a fish on Sharkscope.  It’s true, look me up.  I don’t pretend to be great or hide from my mediocrity.  I am what I am.
That in mind, Yesterday […]

First post since my trip

Posted on 13 February 2008 at 12:04 pm EST by damn_it_chan | Permalink

So, this is my first post about myself,  which I thought I’d start writing seeming as though I’ve been off for 3 weeks, I thought perhaps I needed to put something back into FTR!
A quick introduction to myself, I play low/mid-stakes poker, mainly $1/2 cash game and as results have shown, I generally make money from the game.
I’ve […]

Lessons Learned this Weekend

Posted on 11 February 2008 at 9:43 am EST by Monty3038 | Permalink

The lesson for this weekend is “Never Give Up”
Saturday I played in a few $2 SNG’s at FTP, all in all I was down about $2 after playing in 6 of them.  That makes one 1st place, and 1 3rd place (the rake took the rest).  So not too good for the day.  I didn’t […]

1st place and moving up in levels

Posted on 10 February 2008 at 12:56 pm EST by Andrew | Permalink

I grew my bankroll around 30% last month and ended up going on a downswing once we walked into February. Nothing too major but it was pretty much eating into my entire profits. One major factor however was the fact I took a swipe at 10NL. Now that’s a big jump from 2NL - 10NL […]

Status Update

Posted on 5 February 2008 at 9:57 pm EST by Jack Sawyer | Permalink

So, I’m still not back.
In a Harry Potter analogy, I’m kinda like Voldemort in book 1. A shadow of my former self, remaining under the radar while gathering my powers in order to continue.
It hasn’t been much publicized, but my roll ballooned pretty quickly while playing NL & PL cash games. I had to […]

Weekend Results… and distractions frustrate.

Posted on 4 February 2008 at 6:53 am EST by Monty3038 | Permalink

Hi Everyone,
(Ok, hello to those who stumble in here accidentaly)
This was the first weekend with me starting over.  And I’m pretty happy.  Now know that when I started on Saturday I had about 19.00 in my FTP account.  This is not where I wanted to be, but that is what it is.  So I got […]

Starting Over…

Posted on 1 February 2008 at 6:36 am EST by Monty3038 | Permalink

Hi Everyone,
I’m not new to the blog world but I am new to the poker world.  My friends and I would play basement games here and there and I’d do ok, but they jumped online and started playing, then got me into Full Tilt Poker and I’ve been online for about 2 months.
 So to bring […]
