This year’s EPT tour came to a close at its final destination of 2008 in Prague. Seeing the tour through its last final table of the year were two RedKings Swedish pros in the 2000Euro side event.

That’s right, while Ramzi Jelassi was the eventual victor in this tournament, Jonas Molander, another RedKings pro, was right there at the same final table!

Two days prior, both RedKing pros busted out of the main event. This time around they both landed spots on the final table with average sized stacks, and were eager to show their true ability.

Both making the final table, out of the 5 players left, they were in a good condition to wind up on top. In the end, it was Ramzi who made the hand that would decide his direction for the last stretch of this tournament.

Ramzi re-raised all in with his pocket fives, only to run into the chip leader’s pocket Kings. Up to this point the chip leader had enjoyed stealing a number of pots. The flop came A72 all spades. Holding onto the 5 of spades, Ramzi had some hope of turning his luck around. Sure enough, the flop brought the King of spades, providing Ramzi with the better hand, Ace high flush. The river card didn’t help his opponent shifting the chip lead to Ramzi himself!

Jonas “Molle” Molander finished in 4th place, losing JJ vs. KQ all in pre flop. This sent him spectating from the rail as he encouraged his good friend Ramzi. Once heads up, a close battle ensued, but eventually ended when Ramzi called his opponent’s bluff with AT on a 9 high board. Needless to say, his opponent had J high and Ramzi’s higher card held up!

Taking down the 129000 euro prize, Ramzi was thrilled with his largest live cash ever.

“It feels really good to nail a victory after many good finishes but no 1st place for a long time. It was really fun to have Jonas on the final table as well and also show our new sponsor RedKings that we can play the game,” Ramzi said with a smile.

“-We are of course very happy to have both guys on this final table and hopefully this is just the beginning for our two Swedish “Kings,” says RedKings Live Events Manager Jerry Land.

Despite his young age, Csaba has seen a lot of success playing online poker at RedKings. In fact, Csaba will shortly be celebrating his 21st birthday! In addition to his online sucess, Toth placed in the money in the EPT Grand Final last year. There are a lot of reasons why RedKings decided to sign Csaba Toth. One of the more important reasons is his impressive poker style. His playing style, coupled with his great enthusiasm and healthy ambitious nature is bound to take him to great heights!

Toth is the third addition to their team after the first two Scandinavian players, Swedish pro Jesper Hoog and Finnish pro Toni Ojala. EPT Budabest will be the first live poker event to ever see the likes of all three competitors at its tables.

“Hungary is fast becoming a respected poker nation and it is fitting that Csaba as the new member of Team RedKings will get to play his first tournament on home soil. We look forward to a long and fruitful partnership with Csaba and many more new talented players in the future,” says a RedKings representative.

Be on the look out for players representing Team RedKings! They’ll be wearing RedKings gear at the EPT event in Budapest. RedKings representatives will also be there, always on the lookout for fresh new talent to add to their team!

In addition to their previous commitments in the EPT, WSOP and WSOPE, RedKings Poker have tacked on the Aussie Millions and the Gala Coral British Poker Tour. They also plan to add additional tournaments throughout the year.

“We will be building Team RedKings for land based Tournaments in two ways. Firstly, we will be seeking out and sponsoring up-and-coming young exciting Professional poker players who we believe complement and enhance the image of our Poker Room. Secondly we will add to the team those players who make it through our full and extensive program of online qualifiers. Our RedKings team will benefit from us being at every land based major with full support and on the ground representatives,” said a RedKings spokesperson today.

In an effort to sustain a fun and positive RedKings image, they will be working hard on building Team RedKings. Each sponsored player will be given their own page on the RedKings website where they can share their background and experiences with the average player. RedKing Pros will have the ability to post text as well as pictures on their individual pages. In an effort to bring new players to this exciting poker room, RedKings Poker Pros will additionally wear branded gear at each tournament.

“RedKings Poker has had many players at Live Poker Tournaments since launching just 18 months ago but there has never been such an exciting marketing and sponsorship strategy like the one now in place.”

Team RedKings will travel the world as RedKing representatives and given a chance to earn their very own poker stardom!

This will be taking place over 15 consecutive days, starting on October 26th; be sure to mark your calendars! The games variety covered this year is No Limit, Fixed and Pot Limit Texas Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha and Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo, with varying Freezeout and Re-buy structures. It’s clear there’s something available no matter your preference so you simply can’t afford to miss out. More reason to give it a shot, Ladbrokes will be offering qualifiers for these events for as little as $1. All a player needs to do is to take down one of these qualifying tournaments for a measly $1 buy-in for a seat in one of these prize-rich events.

There are a number of ways a player can gain a seat at the $250,000 Main Event (event 16.) The first way is to buy-in to the tournament directly. However, the $1,000+$100 buy-in may be a bit steep for many players. Another way is to qualify through a Weekly Final. Ladbrokes will be offering 11 weekly satellites that play every Sunday, awarding one Main Event seat for every $1,100 in the Prize Pool. $1 satellites are also available which offer players a seat at these Weekly Finals, or you can buy-in to them directly. Other than that, players can win seats through the MTT Leaderboard promotions during September and October, or win seats through the VIP Club Promotion.

The LECOP IV Leaderboard will be set up to measure the performance of each participating player, awarding $14,000 spread out among the top ten players over all 16 events. In addition, the top 80 players on the Leaderboard will be given an invite to participate in the LEOCOP IV Masters Event.

As mentioned, the last remaining Poker Million VII Semi-Final Seat will be awarded to the winner of the invitation-only Masters Event. This seat is valued at $120,000, with a $20,000 prize money guarantee right from the start. All players participating in the Poker Million VII have a shot at making the Live Final Table on Friday, December 12th and ONE lucky player will be walking away with the $1,000,000 first prize!

One of the most appealing factors of the annual WCOOP is that it offers a little bit of everything, tailoring to the varying preferences of online poker players from all over the world. Event #27 of this year’s WCOOP was no exception as it provided a twist that the previous 26 events did not. In this event ($530 NLHE Triple Shootout), players participated in three single table tournaments, and finishing in second place in any of them meant the player was finished.

The hero of this event, “TheActionKid”, dominated all three tables he played on, outlasting the other 729 players that entered this No Limit Hold’em Triple Shootout event. In just short of 16 hours of play, he took home a cool $76,545 cut of the full $364,500 prize pool. Just barely shy of first was SgtKyle who placed 2nd overall for a total prize of $51,030.

The Final Table was comprised of the following players:

Seat 1: lipster99 5,000
Seat 2 Jorj95 5,000
Seat 3: tictac 5,000
Seat 4: porcelet 5,000
Seat 5: TheActionKid 5,000
Seat 6: WiscoMurray 5,000
Seat 7: SgtKyle 5,000
Seat 8: Rip_Cheese 5,000
Seat 9: ElkY 5,000

PokerStars Pro, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, made the final table and worked his way up to 5th place, where he reached his very own dead end in this event. Fifth place scored him a nice $20,047.50 win. ElkY’s effort in this tournament only added to the huge success he had over the last couple weeks in the 2008 WCOOP. He cashed in $320,000 for a big 2nd place finish in this year’s Event #19, $14,561 for a 14th place finish in Event #20, $10,950 for a 15th place finish in Event #23 and the $8,070 he scored for a 12th place finish in Event #25.

Not much time passed at all until the first player was eliminated from the Final Table. Poker can be grueling at times, especially when you get your money in with the best hand and wind up short. Tictac endured this feeling when he hit a set of fours against eventual 2nd place finisher SgtKyle’s two pair (sixes and fours). Sure enough, a six on the river completed SgtKyle’s much needed full house for the win, sending tictac to the rail.

After the initial elimination, cautious play ensued for the next hour and a half, leading to WiscoMurray’s exit in 8th place. Wisco hit top pair top kicker on the flop with all his chips on the line. ElkY made the call with a set of sixes which was further made better as he hit a full house on the river.

Several moments later porcelet was eliminated after he pushed his small stack all in with pocket sixes. Lipster99 made a snap call with big slick and lady luck awarded him a king on the flop to take porcelet out in 7th place. Porcelet also made the final table of Event #28 later that day!

Further displaying their cautious nature, the remaining six players continued on for another 2 hours without any elimination. During this time there were very few all-ins at all. Then out of nowhere lipster99 exited the scene in 7th place. A few hands later ElkY made his 5th place exit. The very next hand after ElkY’s elimination, Jorj95 was taken out of the tournament.

Lipster99 had all his chips in against SgtKyle’s pocket sevens which made a set on the flop. ElkY had AQ over SgtKyle’s KJ but to no avail, SgtKyle hit a nut flush over ElkY’s two pair. SgtKyle dominated this table and quickly gained chip leader status early on. It wasn’t until heads up play that he would meet his match.

TheActionKid gained a good portion of chips by taking Jorj95 out with pocket sixes against Jorj’s 45suited. Rip_Cheese, who remained under the radar to this point was crippled in a hand vs. TheActionKid, and taken out only a couple minutes later by SgtKyle. This left SgtKyle (33,708 chips) and TheActionKid(11,202 chips) to battle it out for first place.

TheActionKid turned the tables around in a much needed hand with top pair against SgtKyle’s missed straight flush draw. As quickly as the last four players left, the tournament was over as TheActionKid won it over with quad eights. It was a grand finale of a finish for this Event #27 – A challenging, nail biting tournament indeed.

WCOOP Event #27: $530 No-Limit Hold ‘Em Triple Shootout:

1. TheActionKid $76,545.00
2. SgtKyle $51,030.00
3. Rip_Cheese $36,450.00
4. Jorj95 $27,337.50
5. ElkY $20,047.50
6. lipster99 $14,580.00
7. porcelet $10,206.00
8. WiscoMurray $6,561.00
9. tictac $3,645.00

Event #5 of this year’s PokerStars WCOOP turned out to be the biggest buy-in WCOOP tournament to date, bringing in High-Roller NL players from all over the world! With a hefty buy-in of $10,000, Event 5 was sure to attract some of the best players this game has seen. The final table saw the likes of Chris Moneymaker, 2003 World Series champion. It also featured PCA final table player and WPT champion Jonathan Little, “Jcardshark.” Among them were other big names like WCOOP Event 3 runner-up, Season 4 EPT Grand Final champ Glen “Chroon” Chorny, famous MLB pitcher Orel Hershiser, and online pros gbmantis, DuckU, dorinvandy, and purplEUROS!

Here is the makeup of the final table:

Seat 1: Glen “Choron” Chorny (961204 in chips)
Seat 2: gbmantis (865936 in chips)
Seat 3: Orel Hershiser (686234 in chips)
Seat 4: #1PEN (799260 in chips)
Seat 5: Chris “Money800″ Moneymaker (510878 in chips)
Seat 6: Jonathan “Jcardshark” Little (416281 in chips)
Seat 7: dorinvandy (2469033 in chips)
Seat 8: DuckU (657987 in chips)
Seat 9: purplEUROS (658187 in chips)

With a final table comprised of such celebrity, it was bound to be an interesting stretch of card play! With all eyes fixed on the table, the only question was which one of these stars would be making their way to the rail first, and how. It ended up being Major League pitcher, Orel Hershiser, as he watched his pocket aces get cracked by Jonathan Little’s pocket sixes. Little flat called Hershiser’s pre-flop raise and hit a set on the flop. Furthermore, calling Orel’s bets right down to the river, he nailed a Full House ensuring him the winning hand as Orel shoved all in. Orel proved to be a great competitor at such things other than baseball as he collected $54,570 in winnings for Event #5.

It was dorinvandy in seat 7 who had the obvious advantage, with nearly 2.5 million in chips. It was not uncommon for dorinvandy to be in the center of all the action pushing others around as the role of chip leader. PurplEUROS had had enough of dorinvandy’s aggressive play and decided to shove all in looking at AQ after dorinvandy opened up for $50,000. In the end it was the wrong timing for purp as dorinvandy was ready to call with his AK offsuit. PurplEUROS was eliminated in this hand, earning him a cool $75,435 for his effort. The hand also gave dorinvandy a new all time high in chips as his stack towered over 3 million!

The tension was certainly high at this point, as everyone wondered who would be eliminated next. Dorinvandy had a monster chip lead and, surprisingly, his next victim was second in the running! Jcardshark (Jonathan Little) called dorinvandy from the big blind after he opened UTG for 50,000. The flop came 4s-2c-5c and Little put out a 72,000 bet. To his surprise dorinvandy raised the bet to 240,000 and Little called. The turn was a Qd - Little checked, giving his opponent a chance to bet big for the taking. Dorinvandy bet a large 420,000 but was quickly called by Jonathan Little. The river came a Ts and again, Little checked. With this, dorinvandy pushed all in, leaving Little to decide what to do with his remaining 1.2 million in chips. With around a minute off the time bank, Little made the call. Dorinvandy had hit two pair on the flop, fours and fives, while to everyone’s amazement, Little only had third best pair. As Little’s chip stack was moved over in front of dorinvandy, the other players must have looked in disbelief as their chip leader became that much more dangerous.

Chris Moneymaker was the only PokerStars Pro to make it to this final table, further proving that his success is no fluke. After a while it became apparent that he had been running card dead. After doubling up short stacked gbmantis, Moneymaker had to make a play, and soon. With his remaining 300,000 in chips he pushed all in with A4, clearly hoping for the blinds and was called by Glen Chorny and his KK in the small blind position. Chris wasn’t able to make his ace on this play and finished in 6th place for a nice $139,635.

Though gbmantis doubled up through Chris before he left, his rejuvenation was short lived as he went all in with AK and was called by DuckU who had pocket eights. The eights held up and mantis was left with a mere 80k in chips. He did manage to double it back up to 160k but that, too, was short lived as he was eliminated in the very next hand when he went all in with Q2 and was called with #1PEN’s AQ. $179,760 was awarded to gbmantis for his 5th place finish.

Chorny was next in line as he butted heads with the table’s chip leader, dorinvandy which ultimately knocked him down to about a half a million in chips. But it was DuckU who sent Chorny packing when the two got involved in an all in situation where Chorny and his A7 faced DuckU’s AsQs. The flop came Kc-Jh-Th and Chorny wasn’t able to hit what he needed on the turn or river, sending him home in 4th place with a $256,800 win.

The next short stack, #1PEN then went all in as the small blind with pocket fours. The chip leader, dorinvandy, made the call with Q7, demonstrating the brute force a large stack can produce. Dorinvandy hit his 7 on the flop and #1PEN ran out of luck as he failed to hit his inside straight draw on the turn or river. This sent #1PEN home in 3rd place with $337,050. A congratulations is in order for #1PEN as he adds this 3rd place victory under his belt. Just the night before in Event #3, he was runner up on the final table. His total payout for the weekend shaped up to be $391,170!

Now they’ve entered heads-up play and the chip stacks are as follows:

dorinvandy - 5,521,457
DuckU - 2,503,543

There was a little back and forth play but it didn’t take too long before a juicy flop forced both players to push their money in. Dorinvandy made a standard raise of $125,000 and DuckU called. The flop came Ts-8s-7d. DuckU checked to dorinvandy who has certainly shown his preference to bet. Dorinvandy bet 140k and DuckU came over the top with all of his chips in the pot. A quick call was made by dorinvandy, as he had a set of Tens. DuckU was looking to hit his straight and flush draw with Qs-9s. However, the Kh was turned and Qh rivered, ending DuckU’s glimmer of hope.

Dorinvandy took home the 1st place victory and $617,925.
DuckU earned $459,030 for his 2nd place finish.
Congratulations to both of them in this exciting tournament!

As it pans out in almost every month, several players who are expected to appear in the final top ten have lived up to our expectations showing complete and utter dominance over the average up and down player. It wouldn’t be a game without these players spicing up the board and it’s an honor covering their progress. Tonight we’ll take a look at the changes that have taken place over the past couple weeks and bring you the Top Ten Winners for June across all three Full Tilt Leaderboard categories.

Remember, FlopTurnRiver keeps track of the FTP Leaderboard results daily and keeps them archived on the Full Tilt network page which can be found here: Leaderboard-Calendar. Simply scroll down to the leaderboard section and select whichever day you feel like viewing. It’s a great way to see how players are progressing as time goes on.

Let’s take a look!

Top Ten MTT Leaders – June Winners

1 dinkydoofus 7903.70
2 Rounder63 7299.70
3 CBrink_Man 7030.40
4 Geldi28 6499.10
5 rtkoss 6485.30
6 bowser125 5905.90
7 Sveden House 5902.70
8 creig 5852.60
9 tedsfishfry 5204.50
10 easymisi 5171.70

The last couple weeks of June proved to be a long and hard road for dinkydoofus, but somewhere along that road dinky hit gold and managed to climb his way up to the top of the board for a 1st place win. On June 10th, when the leaderboard was last covered, dinkydoofus sat in 117th place, well below any recognizable position. Just below him in 2nd place overall is Rounder63. Yearly, Rounder63 could quite possibly be considered the best overall player on Full Tilt in the MTT category. So far this year, Rounder has spent 79 days in the top ten!

CBrink_Man is also a great MTT player on Full Tilt but has a lot of up and down swings. He stayed pretty steady this month, climbing a few positions in the final couple weeks for June, landing him an overall 3rd place this month. For the 4th place win, Geldi28 scores his first top ten leaderboard position since I’ve been covering these leaderboards! Two short weeks ago Geldi sat in 38th place, not too shabby of a climb to say the least.

rtkoss is another player who is arguably considered one of the top three MTT players on Full Tilt today. Scoring 5th place for June, rtkoss finally made the leaderboard after sitting just below the cutoff point two weeks ago on June 10th in 11th place. bowser125 is yet another player consistently scoring top ten wins. He may not be at the top of the leaderboard every month, but he certainly knows how to consistently make an appearance. It amazes me how these players rise to the occasion in the knick of time.

In 7th place for June is Sveden House. There’s not much to be said about Sveden except for the fact that in the final two weeks this player rose from 197th place to 7th overall, an impressive leap! Creig, a player I do not recognize also made a somewhat decent jump from 31st place to 8th overall. tedsfishfry made a last minute climb to 9th place from 176th, something not uncommon among his abilities. ted is certainly one of the regulars on the MTT Top Ten. Lastly, easymisi climbed the ranks from 24th to 10th, his first top ten victory since I’ve been covering the leaderboard.

Top Ten High Limit SNG Leaders – June Winners

1 time4sumakshun 24135.90
2 moneyinthebank1 22727.30
3 jeppg1111 22401.70
4 0king_high0 20192.30
5 Mement_mori 17451.90
6 adb235 17374.80
7 PokerLex777 16288.80
8 222apples 15154.60
9 beanmo 15042.10
10 hoppashoppas 13931.50

I absolutely love covering the high limit SNG leaderboard because the competition stays consistent among the best of the best as they return fighting each month for the number one spot. Reclaiming his dominant position, time4sumakshun nailed another 1st place win over moneyinthebank1 who comes in a little short at 2nd place. First place was nabbed from time4sumakshun last month by Mr Wite who has failed to make a reappearance in the top ten this month. Moneyinthebank1 earns a well deserving 2nd place just over jeppg1111 who is right on his heals, only 300 chips less.

Oking_high0 has dropped one place in the last couple weeks but has remained consistent nonetheless for a 4th place victory. Mement_mori was our first place contender on June 10th but has dropped a few positions to 5th overall for June. It is adb235 who makes our first climb among the top ten contenders into 6th place overall after sitting in 10th.

PokerLex777 dropped a spot over the course of the second half of June and still manages to seal a comemndable 7th place win. 222apples, one of the newer players to grace the high limit SNG leaderboard, sat in 5th place on June 10th and has made a slight drop to 8th. Surprisingly, beanmo has slumped to 9th place overall after sitting pretty in 2nd place a couple short weeks ago. It’s unusual for beanmo to lose grasp of such a high position after he’s made it so high on the board. Hoppashoppas makes their first appearance in the top ten at 10th place overall after their previous 23rd place.

Top Ten Low Limit SNG Leaders – June Winners

1 bunnydynamics 19153.80
2 M3nte 17939.10
3 ecued 15479.50
4 gerdim 14262.20
5 silky1969 14148.70
6 einsammy 13578.30
7 Arngrim 12492.30
8 kokmus 11199.50
9 Stickit69r 10730.40
10 LDCrayne 10614.90

There’s a certain level of consistency that follows the low limit SNG leaderboard too. I’m not sure why, but it tends to vary a bit more than the high limit board. It’s still interesting to see the battles unfold between these reappearing low limit players. Bunnydynamics has dominated the 1st place position all month, securing himself a 1st place overall win for June, in the end. M3nte wasn’t terribly far behind with about 1,000 in chips less than bunny. M3nte has demonstrated more skill over the time I’ve been covering the leaderboard but bunny’s all-month-long dominance definitely has something to be said for bunny’s abilities.

Ecued is a player I don’t recognize, coming in at 3rd place overall for June. Ecued has demonstrated an interest in both high and low limit SNG has he has appeared on both leaderboards. Granted he’s proving to do much better on the low limit end of things at 5th place on June 10th and today’s 3rd place, he rose from 176th place on the high limit board to 45th place overall.

Gerdim sat in 8th place a couple weeks ago, and stepped it up in the remaining days earning him a nice 4th place victory for June. Below him is silky1969, a player I’m unfamiliar with so far. Silky isn’t doing too bad for himself as he’s spent the entire month holding a top ten position. He started the month off stronger in 3rd place but has since fallen to 5th.

Einsammy is one of my favorite players, popping in and out of the top ten as if it’s his own side game. This month sammy has scored himself a 6th place victory after sitting in 19th a couple weeks ago. Arngrim has dropped one place over the last couple weeks to 7th. Kokmus didn’t appear in the top ten on June 10th and sat just below the cutoff point in 11th place, but has recovered and climbed a few places to 8th overall. Kokmus has enjoyed many days in the top half of the top ten and has even scored a 1st place win in the past. Both Stickit69r and LDCrayne have remained unchanged in the final couple weeks of June in 9th and 10th, respectively.

It has been a while since our last PokerStars Leaderboard update and a lot has happened. Despite the time elapsed without an update, many of the same players have reappeared week after week, giving us plenty of things to talk about. While all players that make the leaderboard are considered top notch players, it is the pure elite that have the audacity to continually take down a top ten position. The top ten is currently home to several well known players, but there are even more well deserving players well below the cutoff this week. Let’s take a look!

9 bjolla 5242.82
10 NeverScaredB 5035.47

B00k0fMud0ra delivers this week’s first surprise as he continues his reign on first place for the entire three weeks that haven’t been covered. He started out the month with a dominant chip lead over second place and is nearing the end of the month with a dangerously close chip stack to the current 2nd place holder, rage4dorder. Rage has also returned firing this week staying in 2nd place for all three of the previous weeks since PokerStars was last covered.

Our first change in rank is shown with rbeckwith in 3rd place. Rbeck has been making a steady rise for the top for the past three weeks and has doubled their previous position from 6th to 3rd. Though anything can happen, I doubt rbeck will be able to muster up the needed points in the remaining two days before the positions are capped and the winners are announced. DESS66 is the first player to appear in the top ten that wasn’t previously featured. In fact, at the time of our last update, DESS sat in 31st place, well below the top ten cutoff.

Anfo500 followed DESS66’s lead and even more impressively climbed every single PokerStars leaderboard rank up to 5th place. In our last update anfo didn’t appear anywhere in the 100 recorded places for PokerStars. FouTight is in the same boat as the last two and climbed up to 6th from June 9th’s 58th position. ROONEY_DIVES has risen to 7th from 53rd.

ICuRaRook is another player who occupied the top ten in the leaderboard in our June 9th update and has remained there ever since. Today he comes in at 8th place, one position higher than three short weeks ago. Bjolla makes an appearance today in 9th place after having sat in 26th on June 9th, and NeverScaredB has risen to 10th from 16th.

Places 11 through 26 contain a few other noteworthy players.

11 dcatcher 4958.14
12 annachung 4942.79
13 jitterbug777 4859.00
18 z 0 0 t s 4698.55
19 ThaDiamond 4672.85
20 bluntman82 4672.77
21 J Darnielle 4636.82
22 LakersGTD 4624.69
23 swishes2000 4573.36
24 Ex-Eli 4550.66
25 stacksanchez 4528.78
26 ILS007 4520.12

Annachung has fallen to 12th place this week. On June 9th Anna was sitting in a very comfortable 3rd place but has been unable to hold any notable position. Several slots below her sits J Darnielle, a player who is not unknown to the PokerStars top ten, but has been struggling the past couple months to gain a top ten position. Further yet is ILS007. ILS has appeared in the top ten here and there, and even sat in 8th place just three short weeks ago. A trend seems to be forming though as each time he hits a top ten position he’s unable to hold it and slouches several positions lower.

47 shaundeeb 4300.91

Shaundeeb is one of the best and most profitable MTT players on PokerStars, but lately rough waters have been steering him clear of any top ten position, unfortunately.

One of the best ways to get laws changed in the United States is by using the power of numbers. Organizations such as the Poker Players Alliance have the ability to pool together masses of like-minded individuals for the purpose of lobbying for their cause. A big realization needs to be made by online poker players in the U.S. of their potential to shape politics through means such as the PPA.

A great venue to flex this power would be in the upcoming Presidential election. Rich Muny, from the PPA, has attempted to grade the Presidential candidates on their positions regarding issues of concern for members of the Poker Players Alliance.

John McCain has a history of voting against any sort of legalization of sports gambling. For that, Muny has given McCain a D. On a neutral note, this Republican candidate does not have very strong views regarding online gambling or poker per se. In fact, when the pro-UIGEA statement was being circulated by anti-gambling proponents, McCain did not sign.

The Democratic Presidential candidate, Barack Obama, has announced himself as a poker player and has voiced support for a legislative study on online poker and other types of online gambling. Muny graded Obama a C. The main reason for this grade is due to Obama’s votes against gambling initiatives while in the Illois Senate.

Naturally, the Libertarian candidate was graded an A+. It is a consistent view of Libertarians that citizens should have the freedom to determine their own choices. Bob Barr, the Libertarian candidate, is strongly in favor of the legalization of online gambling and the right for U.S. citizens to play online poker.

Chuck Baldwin is the the Constitutional Party’s Presidential candidate. Pastor of the Crossroads Baptist Church, Baldwin is completely opposed to not only online gambling but all forms of gambling as well. Baldwin and his Party see gambling as immoral and hurtful to family values. His strong views opposing all forms of gambling have earned Chuck Baldwin an F.

Whatever the case, if online poker players are looking for change they’ll need to make their presence felt in the upcoming election. Political pressure is key.
