Today is Sunday, July 13th and that means it’s time for another installment of the PRK leader board updates here at FTR! It would do some good to take everyone’s eyes off the World Series of Poker for a moment and take a peek at some PRK updates because every week something interesting seems to happen. Whether the routine leader is still sitting at number one, or a possible upset is taking place it’s always exciting over at PRK.

Last week we speculated about whether farryboy was going to usurp the competition and come back to his usual first place spot. It looks like he’s done it earlier than last month because once again he’s in first place. Amidst the newbies there are still some of the usual suspects floating around in the top ten, so lets take a look at where they’re at!

In first as previously mentioned is farryboy. He has a solid lead on foxc7 who currently holds second place. In third is a new face with the name p0kerholic. P0kerholic is beating out another top ten veteran TheThimster and in fifth place we’ve got Vincanity15. Vincanity has moved up one seat this week and is making his approach to the top three where we often see him at the end of the month. Sixth place is currently held by TilKo who dropped one spot this week. Seventh place is another familiar player, 1potato2. We’re surprised he’s so far back in the lineup at this time of the month as they usually sit higher as time goes on. Eighth, ninth and tenth place are all held by unfamiliar players this week and their handles are KAZAOU, Panda and stitches99 respectively. It looks like they may start doing a little damage of their own and may have hopes to make it into the top three, but the seasoned vets here may have something to say about that. If you want to browse the whole list of players and see how everyone is doing take a peek at the entire list here: Today’s Full-Leaderboard.

At this time of the month it’s pretty surprising to see so many new faces in the top ten! Generally the players we see every month have pushed everyone else out by now, but who knows what will happen. We may even have an upset on our hands! Watch out farryboy, there’s some fresh faces gunning for ya! Stay tuned next week to see where things are headed! If you have a sudden urge to see how people are doing at any point during the week take a look at this page here: Leaderboard-Calendar to keep yourself updated.

Thursday was the day to make or break a poker player in the World Series of Poker Main Event this year. It’s where players had to buckle down or miss making the bubble and a shot at the November Nine, the term for the last 9 players who will sit at the final table this coming November. There were a few big names floating around the table this year, even at the end of the day. Phil Hellmuth is one familiar face who looks to place well once again in this year’s world series of poker and has a formidable chip stack after the day was done.

The bubble was also burst today and the last player to miss the cut was Steve Chung. After going all in and losing to pocket kings he walked away from the table with little to show. Not all is lost though, and Milwaukee’s Best Light is paying for his seat at the Main Event next year for being this year’s bubble boy! Even though he lost his chance this year, maybe he can come back and make a more notable mark with a second chance.

A 23 year old named Joseph found himself chip leader at the end of day three. Joseph was in and out of the top 20 for most of the day and nearing the end he managed to double up and take the lead.

“It definitely feels good, you can’t really ask for any more,” said Joseph. “I just kept chipping up and eventually I won a really big hand against a kid that had about 450,000 and that propelled me to chip leader.”

Brian Schaedlich started off the day as chip leader, but after a number of hands went afoul he ended with a meager 25,000 chips which is one of the lower stacks for the time being. That means nothing though and with a little bit of luck and skill he may still push ahead before the day is done.

Day 3 certainly turned out to be an exciting one. With over 600 players eliminated on Thursday things are starting to thin out over in Vegas. That means little because once we get down to the nitty gritty there’s even more competition than before. Watch out for more exciting news on the World Series of Poker right here on FTR!

Who hasn’t wanted to host their own poker tournament from time to time? With the space required to do such a thing as well as distance amidst friends being prominent it wasn’t always such an easy task. That’s changed now with CryptoLogic releasing an exciting new feature in their online poker software. It’s the ability to create and host your own tournaments via their software-online! Now it’s as easy as a couple clicks to get everyone together for some online poker fun and there’s no mess afterwards to clean up from having twelve people in your one bedroom apartment!

“For CryptoLogic, everything starts with the customer experience - and today we introduce a tool that will let players take their poker game to a whole new level,” said Brian Hadfield, CryptoLogic president and CEO.

Another feature that CryptoLogic has implemented into their software is a more adept sorting system for their room listings. Gone are the days of pouring though lengthy lists with no resemblance to anything understandable. With some key filters and a creative touch to the interface they have made it easier and faster to get into a game and start playing poker. Playing poker is what it’s all about, so stumbling though the interface proves to be a nuisance most can do without.

“It’s about putting poker in the hands of players, and letting great entertainment happen - faster.”

Clearly this new tournament feature coupled with an easy sorting system puts CryptoLogic into a new realm of online poker websites. The ability to have private tournaments online is innovative and will likely catch on with other sites as time passes. The old college crew can get together and play just like old times, even once everybody has long since graduated. The opportunities for something like this are ranged widely and time will only tell what other interesting features will come out of the woodwork in the near future.

It’s a new month and with a new month brings a new leader board over at PKR Poker. Last month ended pretty eventfully with the usual favorite getting pushed down to 3rd place in the last few days, but farryboy came back and took first place once again. It’s hard to believe he manages to pull it off every month, but it’s an ongoing tradition at this point to see farryboy take the PRK leader board. If you want to browse the whole list of players and see how everyone is doing take a peek at the entire list here: Today’s Full-Leaderboard.

The beginning of the month is always interesting because new faces often pop up right away and we often wonder if they are going to stick around, or get pushed back to the bottom by the usual suspects in the top 10. Currently we have three new faces in the top three seats over at PRK. Coming in at first place is foxc7, TheThimster in second and JonnyRocker is sitting comfortably in third. The ever present farryboy is holding fourth place, but if prior months say anything he won’t stay there for long. In fifth place this week we have zedsaces, another new face for the top ten. Sixth place has a veteran in the form of Vincanity15, but barcode1973 is hot on his heels in seventh. 1potato2 is still gracing the top ten of the leader board in eighth place while stitches99 has moved up a steady 26 spots to hold out ninth place. Wrapping up the top ten we have SevenSeas, yet another new face.

Even with the new faces popping up all over the leader board it really says little about how the month will turn out. Often times the top ten veterans don’t come out of the woodwork until the end of the month, while the newbies get pushed back to the lesser seats. It’s not surprising farryboy is again in the top ten, he has become a personal favorite of ours here at FTR just because it is so impressive to hold that seat month after month! If you have a sudden urge to see how people are doing at any point during the week take a look at this page here: Leaderboard-Calendar to keep yourself updated.

So keep your eyes peeled for the usual suspects in the PRK leader boards and root for the underdogs if that’s your thing. Things always get pretty interesting in the next couple of weeks so watch farryboy and see what he manages to do, maybe this month one of our avid readers will unseat him and take first place!

Here’s your top 25:

1 foxc7 10626.10
2 TheThimster 8627.30

James Schaff has overcome a poker great in the vein of Phil Hellmuth to take the bracelet and the prize money in event 51 which was a H.O.R.S.E. tournament. This is pretty impressive considering the sheer quantity of fans and cameras that follow Hellmuth are often intimidating to players who face him. Even though Hellmuth went into the final table with the second largest stack, Schaff still overcame the odds and took the win.

With $256,412 in prize money for first place being allotted to Schaff it’s clear that this was an important tournament for him and his poker career. Schaff is a database programmer when he’s not playing poker and it’s likely his skills on the computer and in mathematics helped him with his brand new WSOP bracelet.

Schaff considered himself lucky with his win, and mentioned that he drew his opponents out to luck out and take the win in the end. Whether Schaff is right in the fact that he out drew his opponents, or if it was just skill, it’s clear that he is a talented player and certainly earned his seat. Luck alone can’t bring a player that far in such a large tournament and we’re clearly impressed over here at FTR.

Impressively enough Schaff went from being short stacked at 200 chips early in the tournament to being the big stack in the end, but had a good hand and tripled up to push him in the direction of his impressive win. There were some good hands in this tournament and with a little luck and some impressive skill Schaff moved into the first spot to bring home that bracelet that many seek but few manage to grab.

Absolute Poker has a new idea for their players and that idea involves diamonds. You heard right, diamonds. They’re giving away $45,000 worth of diamonds to those who qualify in their real money games by accumulating the right number of credits.

“We believe all poker players deserve to be treated like the rich and famous,” stated an Absolute Poker spokesperson. “So we’re rolling out the red carpet with an unparalleled loyalty program that rewards players in incredible new ways including a real diamond giveaway that ups the ante even further.”

It’s all part of the new FAME program which allows players to earn credits for the real money games they participate in. The more credits you earn, the higher your status level rises. At the end of the month the number of credits you have accumulated determines the benefits you will receive, including the fabled diamond giveaway. Some of the other benefits include opportunities to buy gas, merchandise among other exciting prizes. Another exciting facet of this is the higher your status is, the faster a player can earn their prizes. All the more incentive to play more!

In total Absolute Poker is giving away 23 diamonds ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 in value. To earn these a player must either earn the most points in a month that the event is running or be one of the first five to earn 10,000 credits in any of the given months. Finally, the first five players to hit a diamond straight flush will also win a diamond.

So if you want to have your very own diamond then run on over to Absolute Poker and start playing. What better way to earn a diamond than playing online poker? This is a pretty unique kind of tournament and it will be interesting to see how quickly these diamonds are earned over at Absolute!

This has been a pretty exciting week over at PKR Poker. The usual suspects are all in the top ten, but things are a little different which lends to an interesting situation as we wrap up the month. There could be some upsets in the top three which hasn’t happened since we started covering the PKR leader boards here at FTR. If you want to browse the whole list of players and see how everyone is doing take a peek at the entire list here: Today’s Full-Leaderboard.

By this time of the month we are all accustomed to seeing farryboy at the top of the leader board, but things have gotten surprising. 1potato2 and Taxman1982 have taken the first and second place seats respectively which pushes farryboy down to third place. We haven’t seen farryboy so low this late in the month before so it will be interesting to see where he ends up. Vincanity15 hasn’t moved anywhere and resides in fourth place while starscreammm moves up one seat to fifth. DELAMOYA has moved down one seat to sixth but interestingly enough Osteomat, fonzy1225 and CallmeTheNuts and day20000 have all stayed in their exact same positions clinching seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth places with little excitement of swapping places. If you want to browse the whole list of players and see how everyone is doing take a peek at the entire list here: Today’s Full-Leaderboard.

It’s strange to see such excitement in the first half of the leader board while the second half had absolutely no player lineup changes. That’s something new over at PKR and when you couple that with farryboy no longer having first place this close to the end of the month this has certainly made for a unique update. Everyone should keep their eyes peeled and focused on the PRK leader boards simply because it will be exciting to see where farryboy and the rest of the current top three seats end up. It’s easy to sit back and watch the fun, but when it comes down to it farryboy may be sweating a little with these guys breathing down his neck! If you have a sudden urge to see how people are doing at any point during the week take a look at this page here: Leaderboard-Calendar to keep yourself updated.

Ladbrokes poker is a very popular online poker site in the United Kingdom, and after this week appears to be the leading online poker site because it is now ranked number one in the UK poker industry.

After massive upgrades and renovations combined with tournaments and events akin to the dealing of their billionth hand, Ladbrokes has made it clear they are the contender in online poker when the UK comes out to play. With lots of new features and a complete revamp of their website one can see why Ladbrokes has now come out on top. They hold 19.5 percent of the UK online poker market.

Their popularity has increased with their offering of exciting tournaments as well as a number of opportunities to clinch a seat in the 2008 World Series of Poker as we had outlined previously here at FTR. With the costs and quality of competition steadily increasing at the World Series of Poker it’s nothing to joke about when a free seat floats within grasp.

As put by Ed Ire MD of Ladbrokes Poker: “We are putting in the foundations to create even faster rate of growth and have devised a sophisticated marketing communications plan to make this happen - Search Engine Optimization, online banner advertising, extensive affiliate partnerships and sponsored search listings have been revamped to ensure that the poker world knows that Ladbrokes is a serious player in the competitive online poker environment , Ladbrokes Poker has also begun their biggest ever player recruitment drive in other key European territories which include the Nordics, in order to reaffirm the brand in these important poker playing countries.”

With all these incredible opportunities thrown down by Ladbrokes coupled with a new user interface it’s a easy bet to see Ladbrokes continue to grasp a larger share of the online poker market over in the United Kingdom. A good interface goes a long way when it comes to online poker and when the good rooms nail this along with a number of other excellent opportunities it’s simple to understand why the room has begun to lead in their corner of the market.

Event #37 in the World Series of Poker was nothing short of exciting when David Benyamine took the first place seat in a solid match of Omaha Eight-or-better. With Benyamine being one of the biggest names in the poker world it’s no surprise that this very talented player once again rose to the top of an event to take the first place seat along with the bracelet.

Overcoming a stigma placed on him by his peers stating that he can only win cash games, but would do poorly in a tournament Benyamine has really shown his colors. The stats don’t lie and with Benyamine finishing in significant places in a number of tournaments this year it’s clear that he is making a mark for himself in the world outside of the cash game.

“They said ‘I don’t think you can play tournaments, you can only play cash games, that’s all you can do.’ So I said, okay, I’m going to try for one year and then let’s see at the end of the year what I will do.”

The final table had nine players who all knew their stuff in the Omaha world. With the final table kicking off Benyamine had a significant chip lead over his peers. In the end Benyamine was heads up with a player named Greg Jamison, but the cards continued to fall for Benyamine and with the 3.6:1 chip lead it wasn’t long before he knocked Jameson out.

With $535,687 to his name and a first WSOP bracelet to his name after this tournament it’s clear that Benyamine will continue to make his mark on the poker world both in and out of tournament games. His passion may be for cash games, but it’s clear that there isn’t any problem in transitioning to lengthy tournament play when the bar is raised.

In the online poker leader board world PKR Poker has always been and continues to be one of the most exciting leader boards I have looked at. We have big names chomping at the bit to take first place with strong rivalries amidst the veterans and every month new people show up and try to take these spots away from the veterans. This month is nothing different with some big names coming back to the top of that list who were MIA at the beginning of the month. If you want to browse the whole list of players and see how everyone is doing take a peek at the entire list here: Today’s Full-Leaderboard.

Sunday is the big day here for PKR, it’s when the updates are made and the list is finalized for the FTR readers. That’s nothing new so without further adieu here is the top ten over at PRK. In first place is farryboy one again. He was missed from the very top of the leader board for most of the month but he has once again secured a place at the top, at least for the time being. Coming in at second place is the somewhat newer face of 1potato2. Taxman1982 has dropped two spots to third place and Vincanity15 has moved up a seat to fourth. In fifth we have DELAMOYA who has dropped a single seat to their position and starscreammm hasn’t moved a seat and still perches in sixth. In seventh we have the familiar face of osteomat who moved up one seat and eighth place is held by CallMeTheNuts who also moved up a single seat. Ninth place is fonzy1225 and in tenth we have ThrowOnD who is a new face to the top ten, but still has time to make their mark by the end of the month!

It’s great to see both new and old faces floating around the leader board by this time of the month. It’s hard not to come back to the ever present farryboy who is once again at the top of the rankings. It’s easy to wonder if he ever goes outside! There are of course some new faces as mentioned before, but they haven’t been able to claim that top prize at the end of the month. Who will be able to push farryboy out of his throne in first place? Pop in next week and take a look. If you have a sudden urge to see how people are doing at any point during the week take a look at this page here: Leaderboard-Calendar to keep yourself updated.
