APPT Begins in Melbourne
posted on 19 June 2011 by

Already tired of the WSOP and ready to try out a new city or even country perhaps? Still have some more WSOP tournaments left but are clueless on where to head next? Not even playing in the WSOP but want to go to Australia?! Perfect! Starting on July 17 the Asia Pacific PokerTour is heading over to Australia.

Specifically in Melbourne, the Asia Pacific Poker Tour will be starting its first festival of Season 5 in the continent. This marks the first time ever that the APPT will be visiting Melbourne’s Crown Casino, which is also home to the Aussie Millions and Joe Hachem, former WSOP Main Event champion and Team PokerStars Pro.

This festival will last a long 16-days and will be finished with a AUD $5,000 Main Event that starts on July 29. This date is perfect as all that are playing in the WSOP should be able to attend this event at least.

APPT President Danny McDonagh mentioned that he chose this place because it has a “special significance to me as I will be returning to the venue where I started my poker career.”

More than 500 players are expected to play in the event and the room features 70 tables allowing everyone to play on Day 1.

Here’s how the schedule looks like so far:

- APPT Melbourne (July 29-August 1) Crown Casino, Melbourne, Australia
- APPT Queenstown Snowfest (August 23-28) SKYCITY Queenstown, New Zealand
- APPT Macau (November 23-27) Casino Grand Lisboa, Macau, People’s Republic of China
- APPT Philippines (Date TBD)

The event looks to be a lot of fun and very competitive. There is also NO excuse to those WSOP players! Get over there next month and win some money!
