Due to a major misinterpretation of conventional gaming language, well-known German professional poker player “IHateJuice” has been forced to change his screen name.
According to reports, a large number of complaints have been filed by players unfamiliar with the origin of the popular pro’s name. It seems as though many are concerned that his moniker can be translated into “I Hate Jews.” Full Tilt has taken these allegations quite seriously, and made a “mandatory request” for a screen name change.
“IHateJuice” said that he held off “until the last moment,” but finally acquiesced when he “[understood] their point” once Full Tilt forced him to.
For those who may be curious, “juice”, in this case, is not a reference to a fruity beverage. Rather, it’s a term referring to fees and commissions charged by a gambling or bookmaking agent. This can be applied to any sort of convenience fee charged by an establishment, such as those charged by online ticket selling venues.
Following the change, “IHateJuice” will now be known as “Kagome Kagome.” This has already caused a bit of confusion at some of the high stakes tables, with a few players coming up against an opponent they would normally avoid.
One wonders why Full Tilt would pick on this particular player, when there are so many other screen names which are decidedly more insulting. It’ll be interesting to see if this represents the beginning of a censorship trend.
