The inaugural season of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT), sponsored by PokerStars, made four stops in Australia and one in the gorgeous resort-town of Queenstown, New Zealand. The ANZPT was able to bring players from around the globe together through low-cost satellites, and paid out prizes of nearly AUD $3,000,000! With the ANZPT, PokerStars has brought world class poker action to yet another part of the world.
Season one highlights included prolific tournament pro, Tony 'Bond18' Dunst, representing the USA well in the inaugural ANZPT event in Adelaide. Dunst finished runner up to Karl Krautschneider, earning over AUD $100,000. Lisa Walsh, a 49-year-old mother of six hailing from Australia, finished second in the season's biggest event in Sydney. She should have no problems supporting her kids with the AUD $162,000 she won! 21-year-old Australian Scott Kerr took down the finals in Queensland for nearly AUD $170,000. Kerr qualified through a low-cost satellite on PokerStars!
Season 2 of the ANZPT is coming soon, so be sure to check out qualifiers at PokerStars. You can qualify at PokerStars.net for free, simply navigate to 'Tourney' in the PokerStars lobby. Once you have done that, select 'Regional' and choose any of the free satellites!
