The new WSOP Online Poker client is the culmination of years of speculation, mooted deals, and hard work. The World Series of Poker is the most well known poker event in the world and carries with it a reputation like no other. The software has been crafted by Dragonfish, a subsidiary of 888 Holdings Inc. A combination of poker prestige and online gaming expertise should make for a powerful force in the online poker market.
Along with this new venture comes a new bonus. The WSOP have decided to stick with the tried and true method and offer a straight up first deposit bonus of 100% up to $500. Any player crediting their account for the first time is eligible for the deal. As is standard, you’ll need to earn a certain amount of Bonus Points before you can access any of the free cash. The Welcome Bonus requires you to earn 10 Bonus Points per $1 of bonus. These should not be confused with Status Points or Reward Points, the other two parts of complex trio of different points systems.
Bonus Points (BPs) perform no function other than clearing bonus money. To start accruing them you need to play raked hands in ring games or buy-into tournaments and S&Gs. For every $1 in rake contributed or paid in entry fees, you pick up 2 BPs. If you’re the gambling type, you can also generate 1 BP for every $16 wagered in the WSOP casino. While your bonus is still active, a bar at the top of every table window will help you keep track of how many more points you need to unlock the free cash.
While playing at the WSOP online poker site, you will be also be earning Status Points (SPs). These accumulate at exactly the same rate as Bonus Points and are primarily used for defining what band of the Status system you belong to. However, they can also be converted straight into cash, at a rate of £1 per 150 SPs. The Status Rewards program is a VIP-style offering which ranks players based on the number of SPs they can acquire in a given month or year. With the site having recently launched, it is currently a bit lean, but there’s huge potential for great rewards in the future.
All new players start in the Bronze category and will need 500 points in a single month to move up to Silver. Next up its 1500 monthly points for gold and then 4500 for Platinum. If you manage to acquire 60,000 points in a single year, you’ll be vaulted into the VIP section. Reach 300,000 in one year and you’ll become a mythical VIP Diamond player. Unlike many other VIP systems, the WSOP have included a welcome added feature. Rather than waiting until the end of the month (or year) to calculate which rank players conform to, the site will automatically bump you up to the correct level as soon as you pass the points threshold.
The main reward for advancing through the Status levels is the increased accumulation of Reward Points (RPs). At the Bronze level, these are earned at a rate of 1 per 1 Status Point. Then number of RPs you pick up per SP increases the further you move through the ranks. Silver players get 2 RPs per SP, Gold: 3, Platinum: 9, VIP: 13.5, and VIP Diamond: 18. There’s only one thing you can currently do with these Reward Points - convert them into cash at a rate of $10 per 1000 RPs.
