UB (aka UltimateBet) runs one of the largest poker rooms online and has been live since 1999.
Ultimate Bet encrypts all client-server data using a 128-bit SSL over a proprietary protocol. At the moment, the size of the ubsetup.exe (Ultimate Bet Download) file is 12MB; however this does change after every upgrade. The file shouldn't take very long on a standard DSL connection and the setup installation wizard should only take around a minute.
UB's software download works on Windows 98 and above but, unfortunately, isn't compatible with Mac users. However, Mac users can run Ultimate Bet through a Microsoft Virtual PC application (which is explained on the download page).
The website and customer support are currently available in English, Spanish, German, French, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Danish, Polish, Czech, Japanese, and Cantonese. Customer Support can only be reached via email, with no telephone or live-chat function. We have had some trouble with their email support. Responses take a long time to come back and often don't address all of the issues that were raised.
UB Poker continues to be available for play by all members of the online community worldwide, including US players. Their belief is that the Safe Ports Act passed by the U.S. Congress on September 30, 2006 neither prohibits nor makes it illegal for any U.S. customer to play with Ultimate Bet.
In the past, UltimateBet has been criticized for poor lobby software. These complaints have since been addressed by several changes and the addition of some useful functions.
