History is on track to repeat itself.
Just like the fall of the Roman Empire
that is the inspiration for Caesars
Palace, the poker room at Caesars is
headed for a big fall. The main problem
is the management, from the floor
supervisiors to the director of poker
all the way up the ladder. Before I go
into the bad areas let me take a moment
to praise the good things. The minute
you walk in to the room you will meet
the best and friendliest staff of any
room in Vegas. Michelle, Lexie, Ledi and
the rest of the board operators do a
great job of handling sign-ups, starting
games and seating players. They even
walk the players to their seats and
bring their chips to the tables. Great
service with a smile. Now once you are
seated you will meet some of Vegas'
best dealers, nice friendly, competent
and just the right balance of table
talk. And the players at Caesars are a
great mix of some of the best and worst
players in town along with a great mix
of tourists.
Now for the hard truth about the bad.
Almost everything negative with Caesars
poker room can be traced back to when
Jim Pedulla was named director of poker.
His first act as poker room manager was
to increase the amount the house takes
on tournaments. Next, and I have been
told this was a decision on managements
part, but it still concided with Mr.
Pedullas appointment, players are now
served only well drinks (the cheap
stuff), no more call brand drinks.
Additionally, Mr. Pedulla has surrounded
himself with a young uninformed floor
staff, who have no idea what they are
doing. Ruling that should be clear and
simple as well as consistant, become a
roll of the dice. If you need a floor
ruling it is a crapshoot mostly coming
up craps. The floor personnel do not
even know the basics or the posted house
rules. If you show them where the house
rules are written in black and white on
the wall, more than one has questioned
why that is a house rule, and they are
questioning me for showing them and not
the management that wrote them!!!
Now for the worst of all. Jim Pedulla
does not hold any of his floor staff
accountable for anything they do. If
they award high hand jackpots to non
quailifing hands, he doesn't care.
Since it is the players money and not
the casinos he thinks its great that
people are getting paid. (I swear this
is true, I tried to tell him about where
one of his Hitler Youth Group {the floor
personnel} paid a high hand jackpot to a
hand that did not use both hole cards as
required by the rulews written on the
wall and his only response was "well at
leats someone got paid for a high
hand").
On this same note I will add a
disclaimer to the next statement as at
this point it is only rumor (I have not
been able to find indeputable
evidence, yet. key word being yet). But
the word going around is that the second
chance drawings for tournament players
has been rigged on at least one
occasion. And while people were
dismissed from thier jobs no criminal
charges have been brought. |
