Lacey Jones
The catwalk, the books rack, the green felt and the camera: these are everyday themes central to Lacey Jones' life, which is a rare case of a perfect and harmonious mixture between beauty and brains.
Born in San Antonio on April 9, 1979, Lacey has enjoyed a fairly eventful life owing in part to her drop-dead gorgeous looks: tall, slender, blond and beautiful, that coupled with a certain hypnotizing je-ne-sais-quoi constantly captivates audiences everywhere. She had her first modeling job ever at the premature age of 10, and at 16 she had international modeling offers being sent her way, most notably in Japan and Hong Kong. Anyone would accept these offers quicker than it would take to say "Oh snap!", but not Lacey, as she turned them down to stay in school and get her degree.
She did well in school as well, earning a BA in Political Science and French at the ripe age of 22. But staying at school also had the unintended consequence of introducing her to the game of poker, as she would seek any home games her friends were holding to participate in.
After spending her dues in the education system, she would move to LA to retake her modeling career. And what a resume has she put together by doing this, as she has modeled (and to this day continues to do so) for Carolina Herrera, Max and Co., Playboy Leather Collection and Nike Golf among many high profile clients. She has appeared in ads from the likes of Panasonic and Sony as well. And furthermore, she would even appear on the TV as well, with small roles in Entourage and The OC, and also a spot on a Coors Light commercial. And then there was also poker...
Absolute Poker saw definite stardom potential in Lacey, and did not hesitate to get in contact with her concerning possible sponsorship. Mark Seif was chosen to be her poker mentor after she was signed by the site to represent them on the felt. This would be her first sponsorship in the poker world. Mark Seif helped her take her game to a whole new level, but through time other big name pro's also gave their helping hands, chief among them, Nam Le and the incomparable Johnny Chan.
With the help of this remarkable preparation that some players would quite literally kill for, Lacey has held her ground in the tourney circuit and can now boast of having earned several cashes to her name. The most recent of these being in the 2010 41st Annual WSOP Event #22, Ladies NLHE with a $1,000 buy-in. She was awarded a $4,097 prize. Her biggest cash was in the 2007 Borgata Poker Open Event #11, where she came in 24th place earning $9,230 for her run.
Her extensive experience in front of the cameras in the modeling world made her a perfect fit for the poker world as well. Lacey was hired as the official hostess and bracelet presenter of the WSOP, most recently having been the hostess of the official kick-off party of the 2009 WSOP, and also of the 2009 WSOP Final Table Main Event. She has appeared on numerous shows on ESPN360, wsop.com, Bluffmagazine.com, and she is also a regular reporter for Poker2Nite. She also got named the Wicked Chops Poker's hottest woman in poker of 2008.
She would go on and represent Absolute Poker in many live events to come, but eventually the two parted ways. In May 2010, Lacey announced that she would leave Absolute Poker after having been a sponsored pro on the site for many years. The separation was completely amicable rather than being contentious one and most observers could see this as the company and the player simply going in different directions. Full Tilt, however, wasted no time as they moved in quickly to snag Lacey up and gave her red pro status. She can currently be found playing exclusively on FTP. Yes, that includes a custom avatar for your pleasure.
Lacey's hobbies include socializing with her friends and enjoying the great outdoors. It is definitely not unusual to find her buried deep in physics and science books as well, as she fully embraces her nerdy side. Her favorite poker game is Razz, as she claims to get horrible runs of cards during standard high poker all the time, and in Razz those same hands are pretty much the nuts.
She is currently engaged to mixed martial artist Heath Herring, known for the infamous Heath Herring Kiss moment (just do a YouTube on this and you'll see). Heath, a fellow Texan, has been in the ring against several of the biggest names in MMA including Brock Lesnar, Fedor Emelianenko, Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic and Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira. But clearly, he has met his match with Lacey.
When you think that Poker actually originated in Texas, and that Lacey also hails from Texas, you can undoubtedly see that Lacey has a natural right to represent the sport with pride. The poker world does not see too many beautiful girls who can actually play the game and play it well while they are at it, so Lacey is definitely a rare breed that is very welcome. That big score has still managed to elude Lacey up till now, but it’s just a matter of time before she will make a significant final table somewhere. Bear in mind the caliber of training she got and you can rest assured that she will be proving her poker chops soon. But even if she has not had any big scores yet, she is a force to be reckoned with in the poker world and definitely here to stay. Just make sure that when you are sitting at her table, she does not charm your chips away from you!
