Jared 'TheWacoKidd' Hamby
Jared ‘TheWacoKidd’ Hamby was born in Indiana but was raised in Texas which is why this online poker phenomenon loves basketball but goes by the name ‘WacoKidd’. He started playing early in his teens, playing with his friends where he attended school but started playing serious online poker just three years ago. He taught himself by reading in poker forums and practicing, he taught himself well because in just a short time, he is now known as a great online poker player worldwide.
Jared is among the top ranked players online. With online poker available to anybody in the world, it is hard to excel in this game considering that a lot of good players play online. But the hardest part of this is when a good online player transcends to the live poker world and still makes it. ‘TheWacoKidd’ did not only make it, he soared.
‘TheWacoKidd’ has earned a reputation of being the best and most feared online player in the world. He is impressive with the game especially when it comes to multi-table tournaments. Winning tournaments online is just another day’s work for him, including his recent third place win in the Full Tilt Poker tournament. Though he usually plays poker online, he is known to sometimes on ring games and Sit & Gos every now and then.
‘TheWacoKidd’ likes music, sports, movies, sports betting, market investing, partying, neutral EV gambling and of course, girls. Though he is single right now, he has no problem enjoying his youth and his company when situation allows him to. He likes playing at the Bellagio and would like to bring poker back in the party scene. If he would be betting his money or his t-shirt, we would never really know. He likes having a great time and loves to just chill and listen rap and hiphop. He is a young, outgoing and successful online poker player, what more could he ask for?
Just recently, ‘TheWacoKidd’ tried his hand on live and poker and he was a natural. He was a success on both WSOP and WPT events. He cashed-in in three of the WPT tournaments he entered to and finish on top 100 at WSOP. He is showing so much promise for such a beginner. Though he is already known online, a live poker is played differently and the strategies use is of a different kind. But to Jared, this is not a problem at all; he even brought home $500,000 by winning two events in Five-Star World Poker Classic.
There are a lot of young poker players that started their career online. Just having a credit card and just playing in their houses, usually played out of boredom rather than money. ‘The WacoKidd’ also started out this way but found his innate skill and natural talent for poker that he made online poker his career. But, usually, the career ends there, an online poker and live poker really does not play the same way. There are a lot of players that tried but failed to make the transition.
Jared enjoys being the chip leader and is not intimated by any seasoned players. His aggressive instinct, ability to solve problems and keen observation skill allows him to succeed in live poker tournaments. He is actively pursuing a title for World Poker Tour and with this whiz kid, anything is possible.
Jared says that he prefers online poker than live poker because he likes his freedom to move around. But his recent show of live poker skill does not seem affected long sitting hours. Although he is just starting with his live poker career and still has a lot of tournaments to win to really call him a live poker champ, he is a rarity in the world of poker. A double threat that is yet to show the world what he really is made of. He already has more money to last him for a long time, between online and live poker, doubling up his money can be easy as pie for ‘WacoKidd’.
