Among the professional poker players who are currently making heads turn in the poker scene is Erica Schoenberg. Endowed with stunning looks and a vibrating personality this poker player with a magical hand to boot was formerly a model. She not only plays volleyball professionally but is also a personal trainer. She has also received training in blackjack and is currently a professional blackjack player of the MIT Blackjack team. She has appeared in a couple pf game shows in Game Show Network’s World Series of Blackjack where she has finished second in line proving that she is not only an expert poker player but also an excellent blackjack player too.
Erica was born on March 25, 1978 in Akron in Ohio State. Erica having been a model has made lots of money but turning into a professional poker player she has managed to stun her opponents with her beautiful looks and then with her skilful poker play.while she has made them pay for their distraction by winning at the poker tables. It is apt to say that gambling is in Erica’s blood. Erica’s parents met each other while at the Santa Anita racetrack I Arcadia, California and never looked back since. They would gamble on anything and that is how the gambling bug, which ran in the family, caught Erica. As a child, she spent her time playing cards with her dad and would often accompany him to racetracks.
Erica has always been good at maths even while she was in school, and has even won in the Knox County math championship in Akron, her hometown at a tender age of 13. It is this natural talent of hers in numbers and logic that has turned her into a winning professional poker player allowing her to capture all her opponents’ chips.
Playing Blackjack was what captured her attention in her initial years at college, where she even took to studies in drama and theatre but soon enough the poker bug bit her. Along side modeling she took to blackjack and that ultimately paved the way for poker. She took to the game just like a duckling to water. Playing with friends, Erica began her poker career in 2005 and soon she became a pro because of her years of experience at blackjack. Her first major tournament was at the 2006 Five Star World Poker Classic where she made it to the16th place and took home winnings to the tune of $118,000.
Erica Schoenberg was recently placed 16th in the World Poker Tour $25000 Championship- No Limit Texas Hold’em and is placed 3rd in the $1500 no limit hold’em of 2007 World Series of Poker. She also claimed winnings of $105,875 in the 2007 $2500 No Limit Hold’em Mandalay Bay Poker Championship. In the same year in June she took part in the WSOP $15,000 Pot Limit Hold’em tournament where there were more than 1000 players and she managed to finish in the 69th place.
She came in fifth at the Five Diamond Poker Classic earning herself $40,000. Erica Schoenberg now plays online at Full Tilt Poker. When she is not playing poker, you will find her spending valuable time with her fiancé David Benyamine, who is a high stakes full tilt poker player. Erica presently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada and also writes a blog where she talks about her life and games at poker tables. She loves to practice kick boxing and play blackjack when away from the poker table. She has two dogs of her own is contemplating starting a family of her own.
She has a couple of nicknames like Blackjack babe, Poker babe and str8flushiiin under which she plays online at Mansion Poker. Though she is yet to win a WSOP title there is nothing deterring her from winning one in the near future.
