This Norwegian who calls himself arrogant and aggressive burst into the professional poker world less than two years ago when he finished 5th in the €300 Pot Limit event of the Paddy Power Irish open. The others looked up and noticed as this young man then took the fourth place in the €200 No Limit Hold’em taking home over $20k for a pay check for his back to back wins in Dublin.
This man who had so far been known for his Sit and Go games in the online world had all of a sudden shown everyone that he had class for the physical form of the game too. Going by the name of ‘dmmikkel’ online, this 21 year old now plays for Full tilt in mid and high stakes SNGs.
This young man of poker has been a betting fan for as long as he can remember. He used to bet dollar stakes on football with his friends. He then registering with a bookmaker online and that was when he discovered poker. He took off playing the 0.05/0.10 stakes limit games for fun and kept experimenting with different variants of the game. The stakes still were very low as he was still with very little money.
His love for poker kept increasing as he read strategies and books on poker. He was still learning and did lose a few hundred dollars in the process but all in the tryst of making millions. Finally in January 2005 he decided to play the real games and deposited $100 in his account and played at various websites. From micro stakes he started making his way up to the 3/6 stakes. This was the stage where he discovered his flair for the Sit and Gos. Now with something in the league of $5K he had many SNG strategies in mind and started doing well. But a bad phase of four months followed.
Then things turned around for him and he started winning. With the wins came the money and the confidence. He then conjured up the courage to take part in his first offline tournament when he had back to back wins at the Irish open. The same year he was in the money in the WSOP when he finished 42nd at the $10,000 No Limit Hold’em World Championship and won himself around $230K. The same year he ended amongst the money in the Barcelona open as well and took around $20K in prize money. This marked the start of a remarkable poker players’ career.
2008 kicked off well for him as well as he won around $24K at the $2K Pot limit Hold’em/Omaha/Omaha Hi/Lo of the Aussie Millions in January. He made an impact in front of a home crowd in the Norwegian open as well coming in third in the No Limit Hold’em event. He has been in the money in the 2008 WSOP events also.
Dag admires Phil Ivey for the way he plays and handles every situation. This young man has many years of poker ahead of him and is making his presence felt on the tables. This confident player is known to be aggressive when it is needed and calm when required. Now playing for Full Tilt his results speak of his successful game.
