You will need to play some hands before this bonus is released into your real money account, and you only have 60 days to do so. It is helpful to know, however, that the bonus is released in $5 increments rather than one large chunk. You release $5 by earning 500 Circus Points, and Circus Points are earned by playing real money poker.
Circus Points are given for playing both cash games and tournaments, and higher VIP levels earn more points. Everyone starts at VIP level 1, and earning more Circus Points allows you to advance to higher VIP levels. To become VIP 2, you must earn 1,500 Circus Points. The highest VIP level is 6, and that requires 50,000 Circus Points.
The points you earn playing cash games depends on the rake paid during each hand. For example, if you were playing No Limit Hold’em and the rake paid for a pot was $0.60, you would receive 3 Circus Points at VIP level 1. Being VIP 6 would earn you 5.5 Circus Points. Playing higher stakes would earn you Circus Points much faster as pots at higher stakes typically pay more rake. For example, if the pot were raked $2.75, you would receive 11.1 Circus Points at VIP 1 and 22.5 Circus Points at VIP 6.
At VIP 1, tournament players receive 18 Circus Points for every $1 paid in tournament fees. For example, a $20+$2 tournament would yield 36 Circus Points. At VIP level 6, players receive 35 Circus Points for every $1 paid in tournament fees. A VIP 6 player would earn 70 Circus Points for playing a $20+$2 tournament.
Once you start playing hands, you’ll find that Circus Points accumulate very quickly. For example, if you were to spend a few hours playing three $30+$3 tournaments and one $50+$5 Sit’n’Go, you would pay $14 in tournament fees and therefore earn 252 Circus Points. This is already half way to a $5 piece of your Welcome Bonus, and all you had to do was play a few tournaments!
