Cake Poker is one of the biggest poker rooms and network online today. After starting from humble beginnings the site has grown to a top-10 room serving players from all over the world, including Americans. When most poker rooms shut their doors to US-based players in 2006 Cake was one of a handful of sites/networks to remain open to American players. This commitment certainly proved beneficial as their network has grown and expanded with over 30 skins. Cake offers a wide variety of games and stakes including Texas Hold’em, Omaha, SNGs, and Schedules Tournaments. Those new to the site will want to take advantage of their 110% up to $600 initial deposit bonus!
Not only will you get the deposit bonus, but all new accounts will also receive 36% rakeback for life! This means one third of all the rake you would have paid will come back to you, each week. This is on TOP of the bonus.
Becoming eligible for the bonus is simple, you need to be a new player at Cake Poker and have never deposited on the site before. When you sign-up you must enter the Sign-up Code FTRRB to guarantee your 110% up to $600 bonus as well as entry into exclusive money-added events. All you have to do is deposit between $25 and $550 and Cake will automatically give you 110% of that amount in pending bonus dollars. To clear your bonus (turning the pending bonus dollars into real money) you must pay rake or fees in real money cash games, SNGs, and/or tournaments. Depending on the stakes you play and the rake/fees you generate you will be credited with a certain number of Frequent Player Points or FPPs. In tournaments and SNGs you will earn 7FPPs for every dollar you pay in fees. For example, competing in a $20+$2 SNG will earn a player 14 Frequent Player Points. In cash games it is just as simple, for every dollar in rake you generate you will earn 1 FPP. If the rake was $1.50 you will be credited with 1.5FPPs.
This bonus does not last forever; you will have 90 days from the time of your deposit to clear the entire bonus. However, Cake Poker is kind enough to pay players their bonuses in $10 increments which means even if you are unable to clear the entire bonus you can still earn plenty of extra money. The Cake Poker website insists each FPP is worth $.06 in bonus money which means to clear the entire bonus you must generate 10,000 FPPs and to clear each $10 increment you must earn 167 FPPs.
Bonuses are generally more important to players with smaller bankrolls as it represents a bigger boost to their account balance. However, it can be pretty tough to clear a lot of online bonuses for those playing smaller stakes. Unfortunately the bonus as Cake Poker is pretty tough to clear for the micro and small stakes grinders. While you do have 90 days to clear bonus it will take a pretty big effort for those playing $25 NL and lower to clear the bonus. The same can be said for tournament players who grind events with $1 or less in fees.
For 6-max players it will take over 180,000 hands (or 2k hands per day) to clear the bonus at $25NL. For $10+$1 SNG grinders it will take approximately 1,500 tournaments (18/day) to clear the bonus. What this means is for players with similar $500 bankrolls it appears much easier to clear the bonus playing tournaments and/or SNGs compared to cash games. As you move up in stakes you will generate more rake/fees and consequently clear you bonus much faster. Those playing $200nl 6-max will only need to play less than 50,000 hands to clear the $600 bonus. Players who enjoy grinding $30+$3 SNGs will have to play 476 events, or about 5 per day. As you can see it is a lot easier to clear the bonus as the midstakes levels. This is definitely a tough bonus to clear in its entirety for small stakes players; however, you do receive the bonus in $10 increments which makes it still a worthwhile proposition.
