I played in July 2008 after the WSOP was
over. I am a novice. I asked for the
$1/$2 no limit table. I was told the
only $1/$2 no limit table available was
the $100/$200 no limit. Obviously over
my head. The smallest no limit table
was the $2/$5; this would be the first
time for me at this level, but I was on
vacation and I figured I would loose to
sharks at the most famous Casino in
Vegas anyway, so what the heck. I
played 4 straight days.
The tables in the casino are very close
together, so you do feel like you are in
a sardine can. The chairs are
reasonably comfortable. The dealers are
friendly and efficient. The rake is
maximum of $4 for each pot, with no
jackpot rake. I really like this. I
think jackpot rakes are just a casino’s
way of stealing more money from each
pot, with a very low percentage of
return to player, never to me. The wait
staff are reasonable, with free drinks
for anyone. I do not drink alcohol
while playing, but had great Strawberry
Julius.
I played during afternoon and early
evening. After a few days I noticed
about the same 2 to 3 pros at each
table. These guys played tight, except
against each other. They took it to be
a challenge to hit any of the other pros
hard if possible, and of course they fed
frequently on the weaker players. I am
guessing they made between $500 to $1000
per day profit. If you stayed out of
their way, you could make some money off
the other tourists, but you had to be
careful.
As a novice, I had a great time and look
forward to going back. This novice came
home with $2000 profit for 4 days, which
included one negative return day. |
